News from Tanzania Monday May 5th: The team email reports all the children are well except for Emmanuel and Ibrahim. Ibrahim has had to go to Mwanza to have three of his teeth pulled out - he is now back at Bethany recovering. Emmanuel has been taken to Mkula hospital for treatment as he is still very weak and anemic and he was also found to have hookworm Fonelisco organisation working with orphans and street children in Mwanza tell us that they have nearly completed all the formalities for the three girl orphans to join us. The District commisioner has visited and told us that the Tanzanian government expect there will be a food shortage from June onwards due to the failure of crops due to a lack of rain over the past few months. They are encouraging everyone to take advantage of recent rains to plant a new crop. The Bethany Family are rising to this challenge and everyone is busy digging and planting. All we need now is for the rains to continue so that we have a good harvest. The children are also working hard at school and following the news and pictures of Daniel as he explores England raising the awareness of Bethany and thanking supporters etc. Some of the older children (5) are trying really hard with their computer studies which they do for two hours every Saturday morning. They then practice on the computer at Bethany when there is enough electricity (usually enough power for 2 hours per day shared between all 5). Rwechungura is our star computer student and he has done a short Powerpoint presentation that you can download and play just click here.
Future Trips:Brian Bancroft visits Bethany mid May and Graham Sheila and Paul Pountain visit in June.
DANIEL’s Visit: Daniel has been very busy visiting schools and churches as well as finding time to visit friends in Glasgow and Milton Keynes. He has a very full schedule ahead and will be talking at the two Bethany presentations (see index page for more details).
