Fax received today Thursday January 3rd 2002 at 11:11hours
Magesa and Jamla have not returned or been found - we continue to pray for them.
Some good news, quote from the fax:
"As you remember that some Missionaries at Bulima had a plan to initiate a better
primary school, they have been to Bethany to let us know that their school shall start
on January 7. So they want to know if we are ready to sent our children to their
school on time or a bit later.
They shall start with standard one. At this begin it will be a day school, fees 50,000
Tsh per child per year in order to pay the teachers who are well qualified."

The local state school has very limited resources and poorly motivated teachers.
Heather, who spent two years at Bethany Tanz helped teach in the school and has
sent a fax asking Fares if any pupils had passed the standard seven exam so that
they could move onto secondary school. He replies:
"Here is a message for Heather; ' No body has passed the national Standard seven
Exam in Yitwimila school last year. As we know that Mwita, Rehema and Nuriyati
are going in standard seven this year and expecting to do national exam in Sept. do
you have any idea in order to help them?'"

In general Fares says :
"The family is doing fine in general. We thank God for this New Year 2002."

Quotes from the fax:
The family is doing fine at the moment. The school academic year started on Jan 7th
so our children are now busy with school.
Problem with the microscope, quote:
We want to let you know that we have a problem with the microscope in the clinic. Its
bulb is not working. Could you please bring anew bulb if possible!.
Problem with water in house three, quote:
We got another problem in house three. A mouse managed to eat and make a big
hole on the water pipe which brings water in the bath room. That hole is at a bad
position on the wall between the bathroom Kitchen and bedroom. It was so strange to
see a lot of water in the kitchen, bathroom and the bedroom coming out from the wall
and sealing board in the morning!
Problem with the local village school, quote:
Fares is going to have a meeting with the Magu District Education Officer and the
D.C. today about the situation of Yitwimila school - some teachers not teaching.
UK News
Next trip is next week - Graham Pountain and Victoria Kyriakidis arrive Wednesday
16th Jan. Looks like a little plumbing job to do and a mouse eradication problem to sort
out. Try and get rid of cockroaches at the same time. May not be able to take a spare
bulb for the microscope since Fares has not given the model number of the microscope
or bulb ref number. We may have to post it on!!
Summer trip (for younger people) is going fine with an increasing number of people
asking for more details. We could end up with 10 or more.
Future trips - non planned, although Brian has pencilled in two weeks in March
Web site updates. Sorry to say nothing will be updated until Graham's return on 30th
January
All emails will be re-directed to Eddie Jeffery during this time
