PAST NEWS - JUNE 2000

Fax received 21st June 2000 - names and ages of children are: Magesa - 14yrs, Jamra - 13yrs, Daniel - 7yrs,
Jesca - 6yrs and Fabian - 10yrs. Whilst this brings our total to 25 children it includes Peter's younger brother who is still being treated for burns at Mwanza hospital and Lufuta who has yet to return (he especially needs our prayers).
Fares tells us that our nightwatchman has been presented with an African cow in a ceremony to acknowledge
his bravery on the night of the burglary. Everything went well!
Reports for May have arrived and the monthly spending for May has been updated.
Our Prayer meeting at the Abbey Resource Centre went ahead on Saturday June 24th. Those who came along
included Moira Stainsby, Heather & Eddie Jeffery, Vicky Payne, Mark (from Canon St, Baptist Church), Brian Bancroft, Julia and daughter Bethany, Bill Rawstron, Hilary Murphy, Tracey Pearson, Graham Pountain. Many items were brought forward for discussion and prayer. Our next meeting is on Saturday July 29th same place, same time, why don't you come?

Fax received today from Fares. He tells us the following news:
Five more children are joining the family - their beds are being prepared - four boys and one girl - names and
ages and other details will be updated when we have them. By my counting - this makes a total of 25 - our family is growing!!
The water pump is still doing okay and needs priming less frequently - last re-primed on 4th June and still
siphoning!
Eddie, Heather and Moiré's trip getting nearer. They leave on the 16th July and will be taking with them much
needed supplies including 2 new UV tubes for the UV water filter (they each last 12 months before they need renewing).
Bill Harris has now a travelling companion - yours truly - Graham. They will be leaving on August the 10th and
staying till August the 30th.

Fax received from Fares on 29/05/00. He tells us the following news:
Two new children arrive at Bethany on the 26th May , they are: Rheum age 5 and Alli age 7 (more information
has been posted to us)
Lafuta has been seen on the streets of Mwanza and does not want to come back to Bethany or Kuleana! (he
needs our prayers for his safety and change of heart).
Fares reports that the water stopped siphoning from the Lake to the well. However, with the help of John Kitinde
they managed to re-prime the pipe and the water is now flowing once again! |
