Fax from Tanzania received today 3rd September 2001 at 13:25 hours
Quotes from the fax:
'The family is doing ok in general though malaria has been very serious
and attacked almost every member of our family. This has caused Ngeme's weight to drop down a bit. But we are recovering now.'
'We still have a battle against mice. These enemies are destroying
everything like cloth, books etc. hope you shall bring us modern weapons when you come!'
'The landrover was serviced and it seems to be working well. The siphon
is working well again and by doing so has allowed us to expand the sugar cane and banana shamba, since we were excited to harvest 120 bananas from our shamba as the first harvest!
A new table made in the dinning room, a new door and window are fixed
in the new girl's bedroom and three new cupboard are made for children.'
Other News:

The team visit Faith's church in Acomb on Sunday the 9th September.
Glad to hear Kim and Beth are back from Tanzania safe and sound.

Fax from Tanzania received today Tuesday 18th September 2001 at 11:33 hours
News of a previous fax received the 5th September is included in this update.
Previous fax - quote
'Fares has been struggling with malaria from the time Hilary, Sharon and Faith
left, and maybe before they came. As he repeated the dose for malaria three times but no improvement he decided to have a widal test on Sept 1 and he was found with typhoid. From that real example we decided to test some of those had experienced malaria like Fares, Jamari, Ramadhani, Jamla, Grace and Tabaji were found with typhoid! After these results we decided to test everyone at the family, Kewkwe, Mwasi, Siya, both of the cooks, Jane the worker and Eunice were sick from typhoid! We are still testing the rest; children and workers.'
Current fax - quote
'The family is fine since Typhoid is dying off. The siphon is working well and the
UV is working OK as far as we see the light on.'
Thankfully the Bethany family is recovering from Typhoid and all the essential services
are still running ok.
Graham, Gill and Maria should (God willing) arrive on Monday 24th September. Gill
and Maria will be helping in the Clinic and Graham has one or two maintenance jobs to do.
There is still time for YOU to join Brian on his trip provisionally booked for the last
two weeks in November - please phone or email if you are considering the possibility. |
