Fieldwork    Make Me One With Everything - (Sun 2008 CD - released July 2002)

Fieldwork's new line up has produced a new CD that enhances their reputation as one of the East Midlands premier folk bands. The band now operates as a threesome, with Tim Garland pursuing his musical options from his home in Leicester. Although Garland's voice was one of many the features of Fieldwork, it had been increasingly down to Dave Walker to provide the vocal lead for the band, as was much reflected in their last CD. But good news, the creative heart of Fieldwork appears to be intact and thriving. The CD features guest appearances from four guest musicians: Tim Disney on harmonica, Sam Proctor on fiddle, Eamonn McCarthy on flute and whistle and Ronan O'Cualain on melodeon. The thoughtful use of these musicians not only more than covers any gaps that people might have thought Tim Garland's absence would make, but also adds a new vigour and dimension to the CD. But this is still a Fieldwork CD, featuring their hallmark  arrangements with the usual dose of percussion and self penned material. Although the aficionados of Fieldwork have come to expect their CD's to exhibit a high degree of professionalism when it comes to the quality of the recording, it once again does merit special note - full marks have to go to Nick Shephard, who is also credited with the cover design, (the front cover design being based on a image by Al Atkinson). All in all a CD to enjoy and savour - it gets even better the more you play it!

Fieldwork    From Humdrum To Tongue Drum (A Young Peron's Guide To Field) - (Sun 2007 CD - released December 2000)

This compilation is drawn from material recorded by Fieldwork between 1986 and 1991. Most of the songs originally appeared on one or other of three cassette-albums; 'Sharpen The Sickle', 'Sunfishing' and 'Dalbouka Joe and Busk' or the EP 'The ballard of Crane Tinkernam'. Five self-penned items sit alongside versions of traditional songs and two pulsating instrumental sets, featuring a battery of percussion as well as guitar, cittern, fiddle, piano, harmonium and bass. Listen out for other instruments including saz, mbira, balalaika, sitar and, of course, tongue-drum - all of which lend an exotic touch to this innovative fusion of English, European and African influences.
