About the Club

Greater Manchester Phoenix Mixed Hockey Club evolved from Disley Mixed Hockey Club - you could say "Phoenix have risen from the ashes of Disley". We have always looked to enhance ourselves - in terms of performance, attitude, team spirit but at the 2003 AGM we decided to take a rather large step towards improvement. We decided to leave "The Club".

While we enjoyed our time at Jacksons Lane, we found it increasingly difficult to keep up with all the necessary pitch repairs, and the general consensus being that nobody fully used the facilities at Jacksons Edge, we decided to move to pastures greener (and wetter)!

Our home games will now be at Belle View athletics centre on Pink Bank Lane and home games for all three teams will be at 4.30.

We have 3 teams, which allows us to cater for players of all abilities. The teams compete in the Greater Manchester and District League which comprises of 2 divisions. Having struggled against relegation since gaining promotion in the 1999-2000 season, the first team went on to win the first division last season. This season they hope to retain their trophy and couple it with the cup trophy too. The 2nd team secured the second division title and will look to secure their place in the first division in the coming season. The 3rd team were last season’s most successful team though - having struggled to get off the bottom of the second division table the past few seasons, the third team well and truly deserved their mid table position last season and are aiming to creep up the table further this season.
