On Saturday 29th September we held a car wash. This was to raise money for the families of the New York Fire Department, who's members were tragically killed by the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre.

We would like to give a big THANK YOU to the local people who came along on the day, and supported us so generously. Also a special thank you to The HFC Bank plc for their donation of £500, and to the Seafare Fish & Chip Shop in Godalming, who kindly gave us 25 bags of Sausages & chips to keep us going throughout the day!

Thank you also to the wives, girlfriends, children and friends who also came along on the day to help.

The total raised was £4,485 - $6,633

..... And finally we can only apologise for the traffic build-up in the Godalming area on the day. This was caused by the generosity of motorists who slowed down to donate money, or wave to us in support. We only received four separate complaints from women who, complained to Surrey Police, called one of our firefighters a "F*@^$!ng B*&^@rd" and the other two who stopped to complain, slowing down the traffic even further! ....... Sorry!
