From Arromanches to the heart of Germany

Among my father's treasured possessions was a small book entitled Ten Chapters 1942 to 1945. Dated July 1945, it had been produced by Field-Marshal Montgomery as a brief record of his activities from August 1942 to May, 1945. The main features of the book are photographed pages from Montgomery's original autograph book in which Winston Churchill recorded his impressions.
In the front of the book, my father wrote the following lines:
R.F.Marshall (late Captain R.A.S.C.)
A humble member of 21st Army Group from
the beaches of Arromanches in Normandy
till the heart of Germany was reached.
Via Authie, Louvencourt, Albert,
Resteigne (Ardennes counter-offensive)
Leuze, Notre Dame au Bois,
Veere (Walcheren Island)
La Hulpe, Gennep, Udem, Lemford
Schweringhausen, Hanover & Herford
With 377 Coy. R.A.S.C. (Amphibian & Gen. Tpt.)
and 721 Coy. R.A.S.C. (GHQ Car Coy., 21st Army Group)
The following pages are offered as a loving tribute to an honourable and peace-loving man who served his country well. He was mentioned in a Despatch for distinguished service.
