58 Squadron Group (55-59)

Ex-aircrew members of 58 Squadron, mainly from the Canberra PR7 period, have formed a group which enables them to keep in touch.

A regular activity is attendance at the Annual Grapple reunion lunch which is held at the RAF Club in February.  The reunion in 2007, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Xmas Island tests, will be the last formal occasion.

We hold occasional specials events.  Following an initiative by Air Cdre Colin Fell  (ex-58 Squadron Commander) , on 6th July 2002  the group sponsored  the dedication of a tree at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas.  The inscription on the plaque at the 58 Tree reads:

"Dedicated to all who served with 58 Squadron "

This web-site offers an opportunity for members to share memories with colleagues in any form they wish. You will find some memories by following this link to the Memories Page.  On the memories page you will also find an extract from the diary of a wartime colleague who served on the squadron in 1941.  This is included here as an examplar of the courage , and as a tribute to our past colleagues.

Members from 58 Squadron of this period are very welcome to join the group.  You may follow the link and complete the Joining /Change/Comment Form.

Existing members can also use the Joining/Change /Comment Form to revise their personal details or to respond to proposals.

You can also use the e-mail contact addresses on the Home Page to send a message to us.
