Explorer BeltOn Wednesday 28th March 2007, Fife Scout Area Hosted an award night, at the 13th Fife Headquarters, Methodist Church, Queensferry Road, Rosyth. During the evening 4 Duke of Edinburgh Silver Awards and 1 Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award were presented. Laura McLuskey and Shannon McWilliam from the 13th Fife (Rosyth) and Andrew Nicol from the 48th Fife (Dalgety Bay) were amongst 10 Explorer Scouts to receive the coveted "Explorer Belt" from Andrew Sharkey, Scottish Explorer Scout Commissioner. This is awarded to teams of two, who have survived a visit to a different country, using limited financial resources, and complete a project en-route. |
Queen Scout AwardThe highlight for the evening was the presentation of the Queen Scout Award, the highest award in the Scout Association to Michaela Monese, Laura McLuskey, Shannon McWilliam, Christopher Dewar all from the 13th Fife (Rosyth) and Andrew Nicol, from the 48th Fife (Dalgety Bay). These were amongst the 7 Queen Scout Awards presented by the Lord Lieutenant for Fife as Her Majesty's representative. The five are looking forward to travelling to Windsor Castle to take part in the Queen Scout Parade. Following the official presentation of the awards, the guests were treated to a show, highlighting some of the activities the Explorer Scouts completed for their awards. Shannon McWilliams, with his trip on one leg of the Gypsy Moth round the world trip; Christopher Dewar, on Conservation Projects; and Laura McLuskey's Explorer Belt challenge in Poland. |
