The Annual Sports Meeting, is a competition for Beaver Scouts, Cubs Scouts, Scouts, and Explorer Scouts, with each section competing for a trophy; the "Beaver Sports Trophy", the "Clouston Cup" for Cubs, the "Andrew Wilson Memorial Trophy" for Scouts, and the "Explorer Scout Sports Shield". Additionally the "Millar Shield" is presented to the Group with the highest total scores of Beaver, Cub and Scout events only.
The Annual Sports Meeting was held at the Pitreavie Playing Fields, on Saturday 9th May 2009.
The field events for Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts started at 11:00 a.m. The Beavers followed with their events at 12:00 p.m. finishing with the presentation of the Beaver Trophy to the winning colony the 46th Cowdenbeath. After a short break for lunch, Cub, Scout and Explorer Scout track events re-commenced at 1:30 p.m.
This year must have been the wettest ever with constant rain all day, stopping only when everyone was safely away home. Due to the weather, some events were cancelled, and these events are shown as nulls on the score sheets. The weather also caused some errors on the day with the scoring, but although corrected on these pages, it did not alter the winning sections or group.
The convenor and committee thanks all who helped on the day with all the activities involved in running a sucessful sports event. The marshalls, starter, scorers and the teams preparing the winning certificates; and to the grounds staff for their assistance.
