Liz Bradford: | Thought it was about time I recommended some Stargate stories - for starters, I can't praise this story too highly. 'Obsession' is just a great story - Jack and Daniel in trouble, with Teal'c and Sam to the rescue... Jack/Daniel.
|
| |
| |
| Dorothy Marley: | And for a little light relief, why not try these two stories? 'Census 2000' and its imaginatively-titled follow-up 'Census 2000 II: Follow Up' are full of those little moments of characterisation that make a story worth reading over and over... Jack/Daniel.
'All the Pens That Poets Ever Held' - stranded on a planet the other side of the galaxy, it's funny the things Jack finds himself missing. Jack/Daniel.
|
| |
| |
| ELG: | 'Alter Ergo' has our team behaving strangely, while 'Undercurrents', its sequel, has an amnesiac Jack and Daniel, snuggling together for warmth in an ice cave. All her stuff is well worth reading, though. Both Jack/Daniel.
'Angels & Mazes 1: Into the Labyrinth' - an immense story, planned to be the first part of a trilogy, but it stands alone perfectly as well. Daniel's disillusionment with the SGC leads him to want to take some time away, but fate intervenes to take him and Jack O'Neill back to a dig that holds terrifying half-remembered memories for Daniel. What happened to him all those years ago, and can Jack prevent it from happening again? Gen.
'The Quality of Mercy' - another massively lengthy story. When Daniel's treatment at the hands of vengeful priests gets his teammates understandably riled, can the vengeance they seek ever really give them what they need or will it just cause further violence? Gen.

| |
|
Brionhet: | I loved 'Through the Eye'. It has Jack & Daniel already in a relationship, as well as making Daniel come to the rescue, both of which I really liked. Jack/Daniel.
|
| |
| |
|
Quinn: | 'This Is It' [no link available at present] - when the worst happens, and Daniel is left terribly injured because of what happens off-world, Jack has to deal with his guilt as well as his feelings for Daniel. Jack/Daniel.
|
| |
| |
|
|
Quercus: | 'Esprit de Corps' takes a different look at the relationships within SG-1. Jack/Daniel.
'The Grave Yields Back Her Robberies' - Daniel unexpectedly stumbles across an old acquaintance from academia and is given options he never would have expected. Jack/Daniel.
|
| |
| |
| Myste: |
My extremely belated New Year's resolution is to rec more SG fic, so let's start with 'But Liquor is Quicker'. Returning from an off-world mission in a hurry after a bad reaction to the local water, Jack finds himself very much the centre of attention from the people he works with. And not necessarily in a good way. An entertaining take on the 'aliens made me do it' cliché. Jack/Daniel.
|
| |
| |
| Corby: |
'Cat's Cradle' - Daniel finds a companion, bringing him hope when he's otherwise experiencing the deepest despair. Gen.
'Alchemy' - Daniel encounters a boy who could easily be a younger version of himself. Gen.
'Fall of Angels' - a twist in the universe caused by aliens means that Daniel is thought responsible for a series of appalling events in this compelling tale. Gen.
|
| |
| |
| Lex: |
'To The Victor The Spoils' - SG-1 discover a planet full of evidence that they're not the only ones who've been travelling the galaxy, but their time to make the most of it is limited. Gen.
|
| |
| |
| Keiko Kirin: |
'Buoyancy' - Daniel is getting laid and Jack is determined to find out just who he's involved with. In the interests of making sure it's all above board, of course. Jack/Daniel.
'The Road Between the Walls' - stuck together on an alien planet, our protagonists discover a lot about one another that they hadn't expected, in an engaging twist on the 'aliens made me do it' cliché. Jack/Daniel.
'Resettlement' - after Jack is stranded on Edora, Daniel is forced to cope with the concept that Jack is never coming back and he really isn't sure how he feels about any of that. Jack/Daniel.
|
| |
| |
| Otter: |
'By Virtue Fall' - sometimes it seems as though being involved with the SGC is making Daniel become all sorts of things he'd never expected. Jack/Daniel.
'As We Once Lived' - Around the time that aliens took over the world, Jack finally decided to retire. Jack/Daniel.
'A Congregation of Days' - what happens when you can't get home? Jack/Daniel.
|
|
Candy Apple: | 'The Secret Life of J.J. Rush' - just about anything of Candy's is highly recommended, if you don't mind your slash a little on the sweet side, but this one is long and angsty and full of action. Rape warning. Slash. |
| |
| |
| Gloria Lancaster: | 'In Vodka Veritas'is a hilarious account of what happens when Jim the Blessed Protector has to rescue his Guide after a Christmas party… Slash
'Tom' - Blair thinks it might be easier living with a panther than a Sentinel... slash.
|
| |
| |
|
Annabelle Leigh: | For a long, angsty story, try Annabelle Leigh's
'Laying On Hands' After a debilitating injury, Blair turns to a faith healer. Jim does not deal with the situation well. The Christian tradition of faith healing is a major aspect of the story, but is treated with respect. Slash. |
| |
| |
|
Helen: | All her Sentinel stories come highly recommended, but I'm particularly fond of 'Not Exactly Funny' where, subverting the usual cliché, both Jim and Blair get amnesia, and 'Eating at Home where they go undercover. All slash.
| | |
| |
| Inkling: | 'Beggar's Ride' is a long story, filled with wonderful characterisations and heartwrenching situations. It all starts when Jim and Blair begin sifting through old case files ... and find more than they bargained for. Inkling rates this R for language and intense situations.
| | |
| |
|
Laura JV: | 'Little Boy Lost' is a lovely story, wherein Blair gets mad and tells Naomi what he really thinks (and about time, too! ) There's no sex in the story, but it is intimated that the boys are sharing a bed.
| | |
| |
|
Josephine Darcy: | 'Partners' - a very funny look at what happens when Rafe and Henri borrow Blair for the day. Slash.
| | |
| |
|
Deirdre: | All of her Sentinel stories come highly recommended. 'Paper Cranes' and 'Tan Lines' are my favourites, though. Slash
| | |
| |
|
Lemon Drop: | 'Like Praying' is an interesting and humorous look at the guys and how they might get together. Kind of hard to describe, so go read! Slash.
'A Poor and Wise Child' Jim's zoning, and Simon orders Blair to fix him...
Jim is 'Listening to Blair' and loving it. Slash
'Carolyn Says'. I like this because we see how Carolyn comes to accept Blair as a positive thing in Jim's life, rather than a reminder of how their relationship failed. Slash.
'Northern Star' is a quirky 'Blair at the Academy' story, where Blair gets a little help from various animal guides. Hey, I liked it!
| | |
| |
|
cmshaw: | 'Silk' - Jim really should do the laundry more often. After all, Blair might not always be around to give him a helping hand ... Humour.

| | |
| |

| | |
| |
|
Sihaya Black: | Does food have a sexual orientation? 'Give Peas a Chance' and find out Jim's views ... Slash.
| | |
| |
|
Kass: | An adorable, amnesiac hung-over, morning after Blair in'Bacchus Blessing' . It's warm and funny, and one of my favourites.
| | |
| |
|
Betsy Tacy Ray-Kelly: | 'No Islands Any More' - sad and angsty, but has a happy ending. Warning: Blair's rape and its aftermath are shown in this story. Not one to read when you're already feeling depressed, because it's quite long, and by the time the happy ending comes, believe me, you're ready for it!! So are the guys. This is very well written, and emotionally affecting. Slash
| | |
| |
|
Bone: | 'Reluctant Patient' - Jim is released from hospital against medical advice. Blair has to take care of him. Great story, like all of hers!
| | |

'In the Middle of the Night', Blair and Conner share a chat and a fantasy or two… Slash
| | |

| |
|
Sis: | 'Night Ramblings' - Blair is wondering where he stands with Jim. Gen.
| | |
| |
|
Myrna: |
When Blair starts dating the local FBI Chief, Jim is concerned. Blair's willing to leave it at 'love 'em and leave 'em', but the Fed is looking for something more permanent ... in 'Waiting in Vain'. In 'The Wall', Daniel's obsession with Blair comes to a head.
| | |
| |
|

| | |
| |
|
XmagicalX: | 'The Invasion' -Blair saves the day when the station is invaded... Gen, humour.
'Destroyed', 'Restored', and 'Protected'. Nothing can separate a Sentinel and Guide forever, neither force, nor time, nor fear. Two sides of a soul will always find their way to reunion. Gen.
| | |
| |
|
Lady of Shalott: | 'Breathing Room' - Jim knew Blair was too tired to come along on stake out, but made him come anyway. So, then they're hiding out in this old, rather disgusting rent-by-the-hour "hotel" when they have to simulate a sex act in order not to get caught by the bad guys ... Slash.
| | |
| |
|
K. Ryn: | 'Endurance' - Jim volunteers Blair in an endurance test with the other members of Major Crimes. Gen.

| | |
| |
|
Betty Plotnick: | '16 Instinctive Behaviours' series - sharp and funny, with incisive characterisation, these are the kind of stories that make you have faith in a fandom when it seems like a load of pap is being posted.
| | |
| |
|
Lenore: | 'Possibility Number Two' - hot episode-related story, with Blair delving into his own psyche to try and figure a few things out. Slash.
Cock Tease' - Blair is projecting and Jim can't help picking up his signals, even if he wanted to. Slash.
| | |
| |
|
Tangent: | 'Umbrella Bones' - clever and witty story, redolent with a great characterisation of Blair; turning the loft upside down in search of Megan's umbrella, he has something of an epiphany. Slash.
| | |
| |
|
Veronica: | 'At the End of the Day' - Blair gets the push from Major Crime, due to budget cuts (last one in, first one out), so what now? Slash.
| | |
| |
|
Mallory Klohn: |
I keep coming across stories I really like and thinking 'why the hell haven't I recced that yet?', and here's another one - 'Life Lived Like A Mentos Commercial'. Jim gets to live the same day over and over again - like the movie 'Groundhog Day' but way smuttier. Slash.
| | |
| |
|
Jack Reuben Darcy: |
Do yourself a favour. Go to the Sentinel Slash Archive, visit the search page and type in 'Jack Reuben Darcy' - then read all of them. Yes, I'm back in 'why haven't I recced this before?' mode and this time it's mostly Sentinel related. I'd particularly recommend 'A Life Half Lived' and his fantastic AU 'Prison', set in 1930's Singapore. All slash, all excellent.
| | |
| |
|
Aubrey Robin: | One of my favourite stories in the fandom, so everyone has probably read it already: 'To Do List' by Aubrey Robin. Gen.
| | |
| |
|
Dawn M Pares: |
While we're in 'oldy but goody' territory, let's talk about 'Spare Tire' - after Naomi's visit, when the family album comes out, Blair starts to worry about what he'll look like when he's older. Exercises to prevent the spare tire of the title lead to something else equally strenuous. Slash.
|
| |
| |
|
Julad: |
'Everything You Need In One Convenient Location' - Blair stocks up at the supermarket and Jim makes a few discoveries about his new partner. Slash.
'Four Letter Words' - I just love the dialogue in this story, because it's pretty much unlike any other Sentinel story I've ever read but at the same time absolutely right. Blair sets Megan straight about a few things concerning Jim and Jim deals with the aftermath. Slash.
'Limbo' - what do you do when everyone is about to find out the truth about Jim Ellison? Slash. |
| |
| |
|
JC: |
'Storyteller' - Blair lies, all the time, except when he doesn't. Slash. |
| |
| |

| |
| |
|
Punk: |
'Like a Fish Needs an Anthropologist' - ...Blair, for all his "embrace your emotions, Jim, they're your friends" crap, never let him have a decent sulk. Slash. |
| |
