The Control Unit is crewed by two retained firefighters and has two compartments, a Control Suite and a Command Suite.
The Foam Salvage Tender carries foam compound, salvage sheets, absorbent and a water driven smoke extraction fan.
The Fire Fogging Unit is crewed by retained personnel.

The Wholetime Establishment is split over 4 watches of 1 Sub Officer, 1 Leading Firefighter and 5 Firefighters (Red, White, Blue and Green) working a 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off rota which gives an average of 40 hours per week. The Wholetime crew man one Water Tender Ladder with a minimum crew of five. The Retained man the other five appliances.
Bo'ness was upgraded from retained to Wholetime/Retained when the new station was opened in 1981.
