2009/10 EVENTS

Below is a list of events that are likely to be attended by Hornet Special Club members this year. Dates may vary. In order to be sure that people are actually attending and to confirm arrangements for meeting up etc, Tony Gould your events organiser, will act as first point of contact for the events listed below. SE Area Christmas Lunch 12th December, venue: The Cricketers, Horsell Birch, Woking. The lunch will be Saturday 12th December 12:30 for 1:00. SW Area New Year Lunch Jan 24th

The New Year Lunch will be held on Sunday Jan 24th 2010, at The Ley Arms, Kenn, EX6 7UW.  This is situated close to the A38 (M5), A380 junction, south of Exeter.  Time: 12 noon for 12.30.  Carvery £8.75 per person or a la carte.  All are welcome.Contact Ann Pardoe, tel: 01626 873709 or e-mail: Ann Pardoe

April 25th - SW Region Spring Gathering

Robin Moore has volunteered to open his North Cornwall, VSCC 2010 Drive it Day, on Sunday April 25th, to the WHSC.   The 30 mile run will start in Launceston in the morning and finish at Port Eliot (near St. Germans) in the early afternoon.  For those wishing to make a weekend of it, he will arrange accommodation in a hotel at Launceston and organise a place of interest to visit on the Saturday afternoon as well as a dinner at the hotel that evening.   All are welcome.Contact Robin Moore, Robins Nest, Trefrew Farm, Camelford, Cornwall, PL32 9TR tel: 01840 213273 ( no email)

June 4-6th 2010 WHSC AGM weekend  The next club AGM and Concours d' Elegance, will take place at Heythrop Park Hotel, Enstone nr Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. http://www.heythroppark.co.uk/Cars will be arriving Friday evening for an informal dinner and on Saturday there will be an outing or sightseeing to Stratford-Upon-Avon, Sunday 6th will be the Concours and AGM.

July 5  VSCC Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb, Worcestershire

31 July - August 1/2nd VSCC  Speed  Hill Climb Prescott, Gloucestershire Hornets will be recing there. The Wolseley Hornet Club will be holding their annual BBQ at this event on the Saturday evening. Members & guests welcome to attend. A contribution of food or drink would be much appreciated. See you there.  Tony Gould

October 24th  ( Sat) Goodwood VSCC Sprint Several members are competing at the VSCC Goodwood Autumn Sprint on Saturday 24 October, and we have arranged a dinner that night at the The Old Stables, a Traditional Country Pub close to Fontwell Racecourse, five miles along the A27 from the Goodwood Circuit towards Arundel. Some Club members will be staying overnight at the Innkeeper’s Lodge next door and we shall hold a National Committee Meeting there on Sunday morning. Tim Bell

WHSC AGM  June 5th -8th 2009

The next club AGM and Concours d' Elegance, will take place at Heythrop park, Chipping Norton near Stratford-Upon-Avon.Cars will be arriving Friday evening for an informal dinner and on Saturday there will be an outing or sightseeing

 

Area  Meetings:-

 

From M25 clockwise leave at Jct 10 and go north on A3 half a mile, direction London. At next junction turn left onto A245 and follow directions to Woking for 6.5 miles passing through Byfleet and West Byfleet, keeping on A245. At large roundabout called the ‘Six Crossroads’ take 4th exit, down Shores Road. At next junction/mini roundabout turn right, then after 100yds at mini roundabout, left down Littlewick Road. At the next roundabout take first left down High Street. The pub is on the right after 200yds.

 

From M25 anticlockwise leave at Jtn 11, follow A320 towards Woking turning left at St Peter’s round-about. At third roundabout, the ‘Six Crossroads’ take 5th exit on to Shores road and follow directions as above.

 

From M3 coming north leave at Jtn 3 and follow A322 then A319 to Chobham. Turn right into Chobham High Street and go straight on at mini roundabout (do not follow A3046) along Castle Grove Road and Guildford Road. After about 1 mile turn left into Carthouse Lane. At roundabout go straight across, down High Street. The pub is on the right.

 

From A3 coming north leave Guildford bypass to join A320. Continue on to Woking joining one way system and pass under railway bridge following main road. Enter dual carriageway round to right keeping in the left lane. At The Light Box art gallery (you can’t miss it!) turn left and left again after 20yds crossing canal and at mini roundabout, down Brewery Road. Right at next mini roundabout. up hill and past church. Follow High Street until shops then houses end. The pub is immediately on the left.
