CONTROLLED PARKING ZONES
Two meetings were held to explain to residents the implications of having a controlled parking zone in Acton Green, and the present and future parking situation in the surrounding areas. It is likely that the results of the Consultation will be put to the Acton Area Committee at their meeting in January and they will decide on future action.
SECTION 106 MONEY
This is a fund supplied by the developers to Ealing and Hounslow Borough Councils for traffic calming measures in the areas surrounding the Chiswick Business Park. We have been asked for suggestions as to how this money would best be used and would welcome ideas from members of AGRA. Among suggestions so far received are improved lighting throughout the area, sleeping policemen and a pedestrian crossing in Bollo Lane and for some of the side streets to be made one way.
94 BUS
We understand the frequency of this service will be improved once Congestion Charges start in Central London.
TRAMS IN ACTON HIGH STREET
We view with alarm the proposal for a tram service in the Uxbridge Road which would include Acton High Street.
This would mean the displacement of other traffic which would inevitably swamp our roads. The Bedford Park Society has complained to the Local Government Ombudsman and AGRA has written in support of this complaint.
It is now up to Transport for London to submit their detailed plans which will be considered by the Acton Area Committee.
