REPORT OF A MEETING ON JULY 14, 2005
Around 100 attended, with a large representation from the different faith groups.
The head of TSG, Mick Woods, explained that the Group, part of the Met., was responsible for public order, including riot and football control. It could be called upon to assist boroughs with street crime and violent behaviour.
Ealing Borough Commander, Colette Paul (who spent some time in the anti-terrorist unit) gave details of the July 7 bombings and the impact on the police and security services; there were 500 witness statements, 5000 CCTV cameras, the Casualty bureau dealt with 120,000 calls, deploying 200 staff from 23 police stations. By 10am Ealing police and Council had all emergency services in action; there are 25 bus and train routes within the borough. The intention is a return to normality as soon as possible. Police are on 12hour shifts and visible assurance, especially to minority groups, is a high priority. Meetings with the faith groups were convened on the evening of July 7. (Ealing has a larger number of ethnic minorities than any other London borough). She acknowledged that response times would be affected.

The leaders of the different faith groups were united in their condemnation of the
attacks, thanked the police and council for their support and promised cooperation.
They recognised the influence of places of worship and the need for parents to find
out what their children were doing
