SOUTHFIELD WARD SAFER NEIGHBOURHOODS WARD PANEL

                        Notes of the third meeting held on January 16, 2007.

The SN team is now up to full strength: Sgt Helene Holloway, PCs Tim Scrimshaw and Jordan Groves,

PCSOs Ikram Syed, Nicola Meades and Rhys Powell.

1. Sgt Holloway gave an update on the 3 current priorities:
   1. Vehicle crime; this remains a problem, but improving; people still

      leave valuables in cars; where possible, they are contacted, as are all

      victims. Plain clothes operations are being tried with decoy cars.

      Cars belonging to non-residents are frequently targeted. Warning

      signs would be posted in the area.

2. Graffiti; the situation is improving, although some 200 people a month

are reported to the Council. The SN team search suspect offenders and

      work with schools.

3. Neighbourhood Watch; progress is slow but more street coordinators

      are coming forward; more are required! It will take time to cover the

      whole Ward

B. General update

1.      The team is putting the case to Ealing to adopt Ringmaster, but it is very expensive.

2.      There is a Ward SN notice board outside Southfield Playing fields

3.      The police are making more use of the W4 and W3 websites.

4.      Members of the team are trained to carry out house crime prevention surveys

5.      Victim follow-up is developing; 35 people have been visited

    6.   The team works varying shifts that include night work

 C. New Ward Priorities.    

After discussion, the priorities for the next 3 months were agreed as:

1.      Motor vehicle crime

2.      Neighbourhood Watch, including Business Watch in the Industrial Estate

3.      Robbery
