Skegness businessman Peter Pope is celebrating the end of his mammoth walk from Land's End to John O'Groats. Peter, who owns P.J. Tooling on Skegness Industrial Estate, took ten weeks and five days to complete the gruelling trek which saw him cover in excess of 1,200 miles. Keeping mainly to footpaths rather than roads, and sporting a heavy rucksack, he finished the route fitter but thinner - having lost a colossal two-and-a-half stone! Although sore feet and aching limbs became an everyday experience, it was not until Peter reached Loch Lomond, with 120 miles left to go, that he suffered any serious injury. An X-ray at a hospital in Fort William confirmed he's suffered a compound fracture and Peter took two days off to rest the weary limb. But it was onwards and upwards for the Skegness walker who finally reached his destination, John O'Groats, on Friday.
