Wick Rovers 1 v 2 John O'Groats

John O'Groats had a comfortable win against Wick Rovers last night to get 3 vital points in their quest to remain in Division 1. Two lovely goals from striker Derek Munro was enough to secure the win.

Team news ahead of the game was off course that captain Sinclair is suspended for the next two games, Mark Banks was pushed back into defence to partner regular defender Tait, while Ewan Mackay returned to left-back replacing John Banks who was unavailable for selection at the start of the game.

John O'Groats quickly got into the game and had a couple of early shots on goal that was well saved by the Rovers keeper. Rovers were passing and keeping possesion well in the opening ten minutes and had a shot on goal that took a wicked deflection.

John O'Groats opened the scoring in 26 minutes, through top scorer Derek Munro scoring a lovely swerving goal that was only going one place, straight in the back of the net. No chance for the Rovers keeper.

It was striker Derek Munro again that put John O'Groats 2 - 0 up with another good goal chipping the keeper to put the team in a strong position just before the interval.

John O'Groats made a change not long after half time with John Banks replacing Iain Rosie who had put in a good shift and was unlucky not to score in the 1st half. Groats never really finished the game of and at times let Rovers come back at them, although the Rovers strike-force never really caused any problems for the John O'Groats defence.

Rovers pulled a goal back in injury time, 92nd minute but it was definately to late and John O'Groats thoroughly deserved the win.
