Groats get their first win of the season! 8th May 2003
Wick Groats 1 v 2 John O'Groats
John O'Groats finally got their first win of the season under their belts with a 2 - 1 away victory over Wick Groats. John O'Groats started with their pretty much regular eleven and
welcomed the return of MacAllan to central midfield. Mark Munro started another game up front partnering his brother Derek. John O'Groats are still without Ewan Mackay (injured) and Mark Robertson (other duties).
Both teams started of pretty even, however John O'Groats had the best of the last 20 mins of the 1st half and were rewarded with their efforts when striker Derek Munro scored from a Mark Banks long pass to put John O'Groats ahead after 38 minutes.
John O'Groats started the 2nd half were they left off and were rewarded again when Mark Munro scored a good goal to make it 2 - 0. From then on John O'Groats pretty much controlled the game and could have quite easily been 4 - 0 up, Mark Munro had a goal disallowed by the referee (not quite
sure what for!) and Derek missed a good chance to finnish the game off.
Wick Groats pulled a goal back in 82 minutes and Groats found themselves under some heavy pressure in the last 10 minutes of the game. However Groats hung on to what is their 1st victory of the season.
Groats will next face Workshops on Monday night in John O'Groats.
