Francis St Club 0 v 2 John O'Groats

John O'Groats got 3 points last night against Div 1 relegation team Francis St Club to keep the pressure on the other relegation favorites Wick Groats who won 4 - 3 against Workshops.

John O'Groats welcomed the return of Stuart Sinclair and Mark Munro both returned back from a two game suspension. But were without the services of influential midfield MacAllan (flu) and defenders J. Banks and Mackay both unavailable for selection. Manager Andy Webster shuffled the pack starting young Stewart Sinclair in defence with regular Stuart Sinclair and the veteran started himself in midfield.

John O'Groats got off to a bit of a shakey start possiblly feeling the pressure that Wick Groats were ahead in the game taking place right opposite them. However as usual the Groats strikers Henstridge and Munro caused problems for the opposition defence creating a few decent chances.

John O'Groats were rewarded a penalty after 17 minutes as the Francis St defender clearly handed the ball inside the penalty area and striker Derek Munro stepped up to tuck the penalty away nicely, 1 - 0 to John O'Groats.

John O'Groats found them selves ahead again 15 minutes later as player manager Andy Webster struck a long shot that managed to find the back of the net. The veteran player showed no signs of being 40 plus and his fitness looked as good as some of the other youngsters on the pitch!

John O'Groats were unlucky not to be further ahead at half time as the Groats strikers missed a host of chances. John O'Groats pretty much controlled the 2nd half however at times the John O'Groats defence still looked nervous. The more Groats tried the more luck the Francis St keeper had at keeping the ball out the net.

Frustration started to appear on some of the John O'Groats players, M. Munro was given a yellow card and a ticking off for a high challenge, but to the fair the midfielder was hard done by. In the last few minutes of the game Mark Banks saw a straight red for a bad challenge but again questions had to be raised weather it was a straight red!
