John O'Groats Win Vital Points

John O'Groats 3 v 1 Francis St Club
Both Munro brothers scored vital goals as John O'Groats won 3 - 1 against Francis St Club in the bottom of the league Division 1 clash. John O'Groats started with one of their strongest teams yet of the campaign, welcomed back Ewan Mackay, Mark Robertson and Club Chairman Willie Ross.
With plenty of options to choose from Groats decided to change things around a little and started with a 3-5-2 formation. This allowed Mackay and Muir to push out a little on the far wings giving the necessary service to the strike force of Derek and Mark. With so many options to choose from this mean that first team regular Ross had to settle for a place on the bench.
Groats got off two the worst possible start something that we have seen quite often this season when Francs St Club took the lead after 15 minutes. Groats battled back hard into the game and were almost rewarded with some hard battling efforts by midfielder MacAllan. However had to wait until 40 minutes when striker Derek Munro scored to put the game 1 - 1 at half time.
Groats pushed hard in the 2nd half and got off to a brilliant start when the other Munro brother Mark scored this time to make it 2 - 1. Groats applied more pressure and a strike by comeback man Ewan Mackay almost dipped in past the Francis Street keeper.
Midfielder Mark Robertson was pushed up to support the two strikers and was almost rewarded as he passed the ball for Mackay who almost scored again but the keeper pulled off a save.
Groats had a host of chances which should have been put away and could have quite easily been 4 or 5 up however had to wait until the 85th minute when Mark Munro struck the ball away after some scrappy defending from the Francis Street boys to secure the 3 points.
This was by no means a walk for Groats and were given a tough game by a spirited Francis Street team. Groats suprisingly next game is also against Francis St Club when they meet this time in the Quarter Finals of the David Allan Shield.
