Work in Progress

Brief Introduction

I've added this page to show some of the paint or conversion projects I'm currently working on in stages of incompletion. My paint jobs are never that good that it takes weeks to complete (as the dates below might mislead you to believe). The longest paint job I've done is probably only a few hours, it's just that I don't get that much time to do any painting... :-(

4th October 2004 - Grey Knights

Had a bit of a play around painting a Grey Knight Space Marine and an Inquisitorial Stormtrooper.
The Stormtrooper model is actually a Cadian Kasrkin Trooper. Hopefully, the colour schemes match well enough.
Red is a real pain of a colour to paint well. :-(

23rd August 2004 - Necron Lord Destroyer Base

Currently working on the concept for the Necron Lord's Destroyer base.
After making the other Destroyer bases look real good (see photo lower down page), I realised I had to go OTT with the Lord. I think this base will do.
Updated: Just put finished pictures of the base/lord here.

11th August 2004 - Necron Lords

Quite a lot more miniatures finished off, including 2 Necron Lords.
When I finish my Necron Lord with a Destroyer body, that'll be the Necron Army finished.

Now... Should I add a C'tan and a Monolith? :-)

4th August 2004 - Painting Galore

I've barely painted a thing since summer 2003, but this summer I've had a while to sit down, chill, avoid the crappy English summer and get some painting done. In the last 2 weeks, I've painted;

Photos of a few of these are shown below.

25th July 2003 - Kroot Warrior

Since the holidays are upon me, I took a few hours to paint a Kroot Warrior for my Tau army. I've not done any of these before and was playing around with the colour scheme before I finally settled on using GW's new Catachan Green paint as the base colour. I used the new GW colour Kommando Khaki to mix with the green for highlighting.
A Finished picture of this model is now in my Warhammer 40k Tau section.

23rd June 2003 - More Skaven Blood Bowl

I've actually finished all but 3 of my Skaven Blood Bowl Team now, but haven't had chance to get any photos sorted.
Here is a picture of my nearly finished Rat Ogre "Emile Ratskey". :-)

24th May 2003 - Skaven Blood Bowl Team

Finished a couple more members of my Skaven Blood Bowl Team (Plaguepool FC) along with some work on a Dwarf Referee. Check out the watch on the Referee. :-)

28th April 2003 - Black Coach and Trolls

The Black Coach is not yet fully finished - it still needs the coffin inside. I also just finished off the 2 trolls in the foreground. The coach and the 2 trolls are the only pieces of paint work I've done in the last 3 months. If only I had the time... :-(

19th January 2003 - Skeleton Cavalry

No new pictures here, but the first 10 of my Skeleton Cavalry (Black Knights) can be seen in the Warhammer Vampire Counts section.

29th December 2002 - Painting Table

Not had chance to get much painting done over the Christmas holidays.... :-(
On the painting table at the moment are a few Necron Pariahs to finish off, 1 nearly complete troll and a couple basecoated. A couple of Skaven Bloodbowl players also await a few more colours.
All that's been finished recently are 4 Lizardmen Bloodbowl players which my wife painted, and a single Skaven Bloodbowl player I finished.

7th December 2002 - Games Day Champion

First chance I've had to do a little bit more work on the Games Day Chaos Champion. Finished off the captive. Just the Champion's trophy rack of bones to add to his back.
Update: Finished pictures of this model are now in my Warhammer Chaos section.

20th November 2002 - Games Day Champion

Had a few hours this evening after getting over sinusitus to put brush to metal and start work on my Games Day 2002 Chaos Champion. I'd bought a few bitz from GW mail order to use as a base for something one day and this figure seemed like the choice. Still a bit of work to do on the uplifted victim. Planned paint scheme is one to match the cowering fellow at the rear of the barrels. I've also still to decide on a colour for the chaos dudes weapon as well as paint up his banner poles. (not attached or seen in photo)

2nd November 2002 - Night Goblins

Spent a few hours finishing off my unit of Night Goblins. I now have 30 of these critters painted up.
Full Unit in the Warhammer - Orcs & Goblins Section.

The Necron Pariahs and Nurgle Plague Bearers from October are now in the relevant 40K and Warhammer sections.

4th October 2002 - Painting Table

A few pictures of my current state of affairs. ie. What's on my painting table at the moment.

28th August - Nurgle Army

Had chance to attempt a couple more chaos warriors and the great new Chaos champion model.
I also purchased and painted a blister of 3 Nurgle Plague Bearers.
I've posted pics of all these in my Warhammer pages in the Chaos section (duh!).

27th July 2002 - Scenery

I used a Hirst Arts Mould to make a load of plaster of paris bricks, then constructed a hill out of polystytrene insulating foam. The brickwork took quite a while to glue together, but I thought it looked pretty good.
I was going to glue the ruins to the hill and make the hill more scenic, but decided to keep the hill flat so it could be used on its own if needed, as well as keeping the tower parts seperate so I could store them easier.

27th June - Necron Destroyers

Just bought the Necron Army deal to boost my existing Necron Force.
Although I have yet to add the pictures of the new warriors and wraiths I've finished, here's a shot of the upcoming Destroyers - a work in progress.

27th May 2002 - Chaos Warriors

To distract from the chores of painting Greenskins, Tau and Undead, I bought a box of the latest Chaos Warriors to have a go at. I decided to go with a yucky green Nurgle colour scheme.
I liked the slime pool on the base but failed miserably to get the horns to look blended. Never mind... it's all good practice.

11th May 2002 - Goblin Doom Diver Project

Now completed. See pictures in Warhammer - Orc and Goblin section.

22nd April 2002 - Goblin Doom Diver Project

Always wanted to paint one of these since I saw this figure. The In-Laws got me this model for Christmas 2001 (Cheers!) but I've not had time to work on it. Finally got round to putting most of it together and creating a base for it out of a sheet of plasticard and a movement tray. The spaces are where the Orc Bully, Goblin pullers and Goblin mallet boy will be placed.

Although it has all been so-called-matte varnished, and shines somewhat under flash photography - in reality, the only part that has much shine really is the buttery slime I varnished with gloss varnish.
Now if only I ad a few more hours to finish the remaining few figures that go on the base.

8th April 2002 - Orc Boss on Wyvern Project

I wanted to have an Orc boss on a Wyvern, but really didn't like GW's latest wyvern figure. The Orc boss for the new figure looked great, so I have one of those ready to put on the wyvern. Of all the current dragon figures GW make, I prefer the look of the High Elf 'Imrik Dragonlord' dragon. So, I decided to use this as the basis for my wyvern.

Converion work done:

Not really a massive conversion job, but after spraying Dark Angels green as a basecoat, it's not looking too bad. A Much better wyvern than the official GW one. :-)

When it's painted I'll put the pictures in the relevant Warhammer: Orc and Goblin section.
