THE MAZDA RX-7 OWNERS CLUB NATIONAL GATHERING SATURDAY 23RD AND SUNDAY 24TH AUGUST 2003 This event is THE event of the year for the Club and its members. It allows members to exchange news, views and advice to fellow members, have a say and involvement in the Club that points the way for both it and its members to everyones benefit as best as can be achieved. This year we have a new location on Saturday and a cracking outing for Sunday to make this a memorable Club weekend for everyone. Saturday, 23 August Venue:The Community Centre Cottesmore, Near Oakham, Rutland Facilities will be available from 12 noon and setting up of the barbecue will take place from then with food available around 1.30 p.m. Liquid refreshments available from midday. Camping facilities are available on site whilst plenty of bed and breakfast accommodation is readily available. The day will consist of the well known barbecue provided by Club Chairman, Brian and Michelle plus assistants. Members can vote for the RX-7 best in series present with trophies presented at the AGM later in the afternoon. Do not forget to bring your ideas and suggestions to the AGM where the voting of the Club's Committee will also take place. Anyone nominated for a Committee position must be approached and agree to stand prior to the AGM. An evening meal will be available in the hall whilst the premises adjoin a Social Club to which Club members will be temporary guests. Sunday, 24 August A continental breakfast will be available for those on site. An early departure will be necessary for the convoy of RX-7's to Rockingham Raceway for the Days of Thunder event. The circuit is approximately 18 miles away and it normally takes around ½ hour to get there, but traffic will be heavy close to the circuit and the journey will take longer. Rockingham Motor Speedway Racing Circuit, Corby, Northamptonshire The Club has a chance to excel itself by being involved in one of Rockingham Motor Speedway's Days of Thunder race meetings on Sunday, 24 August which includes pick-up truck racing as well as the Ascar saloon cars, many other attractions together with shopping mall and opportunities to meet and obtain autographs from drivers. You may even obtain the occasional racing car tyre free of charge. Never before has an RX-7 appeared on this banked oval circuit and the Club will be undertaking a parade lap between the Ascar, American style saloon car races. We are being allowed no more than 50 Club RX-7's to partake in this parade and an early reply is essential. There is a full days racing programme on Sunday, 24 August. Club members can obtain tickets, 2 adults for the price of 1, at just £12, whilst children under 16 are free, by sending a cheque to Bernard Rice made payable to the RX-7 Owners Club, cheques must be received by 1 August to receive the reduced ticket price offer. If you have never experienced a race meeting then here is your opportunity as a Club member to be involved not only as a spectator but also in the meeting itself, parading in front of thousands of motor racing enthusiasts. The parade lap will be restricted to the first 50 Club members applying, but do not be deterred if the parade lap is something you do not wish to undertake as this really is an event worth attending and completes the Club's major annual event. Don't forget this is a Bank Holiday weekend and those travelling a long distance will have Monday to recuperate. A separate parking area will be made available as the Club are part of the day's events. All those taking part in the parade lap of the circuit will be given passes and parked together on the Club area for ease of organisation when required. This event is a real opportunity for everyone, but particularly anyone who has never been to a racing circuit, especially this type of racing on a banked oval track as seen with Nascar saloon car racing in America. There is a full day's programme and it is real value for money. Don't let this opportunity pass you by, return your slip, plus cheque for tickets, to be part of the Rockingham Days of Thunder immediately. Remember, the first 50 cars wishing to be part of the parade lap will receive circuit passes. Be part of this event and make it a real weekend to remember. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Tear Off/Cut Here --------------------- 2003 Annual National Gathering Members Name …………………..………….……………………………………………....
