It appeareth of record amongst the rolls of his Majesty's high court of Chancery in Ireland that by deed bearing date 24 June 1703 made between Sir Cyril Wick Knight, Frances Annesley Esq, John Baggs Esq, John Trenchard, Esq, John Isham, Esq, Henry Langford, Esq, James Hope, Esq, John Carey gent, Sir Henry Shere Knight, Thomas Harrison Esq, William Fellowes, Esq, Sir Thomas Rawlins, Esq: surviving trustees nominated and appointed for putting in execution the powers and authorities relating to the forfeited and other estates in Ireland of the one part and Richard Gumbleton of Lismore co. Waterford gent of the other part; it is witnessed that they the said trustees for the considerations in said deed and in pursuance of the acts of Parliament therein recited did grant and convey the said towns lands and premises hereinafter mentioned unto the said Richard Gumbleton his heirs and assigns for ever in the words following, that is to say:
"Have bargained and sold by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said Richard Gumbleton who by these presents the said trustees declare to be the purchaser thereof having bid most for he same on the [candle?] all that and those the town and lands of Ummerie and Tonorade containing by estimate 539 acres, 3 roods profitable land plantation measure be the same more or less the town and lands of East Knocknallygadromy containing by estimate 144 acres profitable land plantation measure to be the same more or less together with all and singular the right members and appurtenances all which said premises were late the property of Donagh late Earl of Clancarty attainted for treason and are situate lying and being in the barony of Muskerry and county of Cork to have and to hold to the said Richard Gumbleton his heirs and assigns for ever subject to all charges and incumbrances claimed before and allowed by said trustees to any person or persons whatsoever to be held of her Majesty's her heirs and successors as of her castle in Dublin by fee and common soccage tenure subject nevertheless from the date hereof to the yearly crown rent of 17/10."

By virtue of a writ of distringas and vindit expon[..] directed to the said sheriff out of the King's Bench Ireland requiring him to sell the goods and chattels of Andrew Hill of Saltabridgge, co. Waterford gent. to the value of £140 seized by James May Esq late high sheriff of he said couny by vurtue of a fier[?] fac[?] and remaining in his hands for wantof buyers and also by a fier[?] fac[?] inserted in the said writ to levy the sum of £609/5/4 of the goods of the said Andrew Hills at the suit of Hugh Henry Esq He the said Richard Gumbleton exposed to sale the term of interest which the said Andrew Hills had in the lands of Salterbridge and Quarter of Afane situate in co Waterford by virtue of a lease to him thereof made by the Earl of Cork and Burlington for the term of 41 years to commence from 25 march 1719 at the yearly rent of £80 by which deed of Bargain and sale the said Richard Gumbleton by virtue of the said writ and of his office did for the consideration of £128 paid by Stephen Sowton grant bargain sell and assign unto him the said lands of Salterbridge and Quarter of Afane and all Andrew Hills interest term of years claim and demand in and to the same by virtue of said lease.

An indented tripartite deed dated 11 June 1724 mentioned to be made between a) Michael Busteed and Susanna his wife b) Jephson Busteed and Elizabeth Gumbleton daughter of Richard Gumbleton the elder c) the Hon Henry Boyle of Castlemarty co Cork Esq Robert Warren of Kilbarry co Cork Esq Richard Gumbleton the elder and Richard Gumbleton the younger setting forth that a marriage then intended between Jephson Busteed and Elizabeth Gumbleton and Michael Busteed in consideration of £1000 marriage portion paid him did grant and convey to Henry Boyle and Robert Warren and their heirs the several lands of Ringneneane (183 acres) aand 60 acres profitable land plantation measure before then purchased by Michael Busteed from the late trustees appointed for the sale of Irish forfeitures the lands tenements and hereditaments of Mountlong Knocklea Ballinranglanig in the Barony of Henelea co. Cork and also the town and lands of Tiriscarthy and Kilclouane in the Barony of Orrery and Kilmore co Cork for use int he said indenture thereafter declared and recited that whereas the said intended marriage was acoordingly had and said Elizabeth Gumbleton died many years since without leaving any issue male by said Jephson Busteed who attained to the age of 10 years but left issue of 3 daughters to wit Anne Jane and Elizabeth who are still living and reciting that whereas the said Anne has attained 21 years the said Jephson has in pursuance of said indenture tripartite appointed the sum of £1200 sterling out of the sum of £2000 therein mentioned for the portion of Anne and did hereby agree that said sum of £1200 should be forthwith raised by the said Richard Gumbleton the elder and Richard Gumbleton the younger for the use of the said Anne
recited that whereas a marriage was concluded upon for said Jane and said Jephson in pursuance of said indenture tripartite did appoint the sum of £200 sterling for the marriage portion of the said Jane therefore said indenture witnesseth that said Richard Gumbleton the father and Richard Gumbleton the son in consideration of sum of £1200 and £500 have to them in hand paid by the said William Connor before ensealing and delivery thereof the receipt whereof is thereby acknowledged did grant bargain sell assign and to make over unto the said William Connor his executors administrators and assigns all that and those the aforesaid 180 acres in Knocklea the town and lands of Ballingemanig containing by common estimate 224 acres more or less in Knockacullin 22 acres of land Kingnencane 60 acres all profitable land plantation measure purchased by Michael Busteed from said late trustees the lands tenements and hereditaments of Mountlongknockleagh Ballinranglanig in Barony of Kinnelea co. Cork and also the town and lands of Liniscarthy and Kilclovane in Barony of Orrery and Kilmore with their appurtenances to hold the said town and lands and premises with the appurtenances unto the said William Connor and his executors administrators and assigns for the term of 99 years to commence and be computed as in the indenture is mentioned subject to the proviso or condition of redemption therein mentioned to which said indenture the said Richard Gumbleton the elder Richard Gumbleton the younger Jephson Busteed and William Connor put their hand and seal.

Amongst other things recites that the said Richard Gumbleton the elder and Richard Gumbleton the younger had by commission acknowledged two fines surconessit to the said Thomas Garde one of the said fines of all that and those the lands of Garrynegowle part of Kilcoan Ballomeashy otherwise Ballygomash otherwise mashtown with their appurtenances situate in co Cork, the other of all that and those the lands of Shyanbeg otherwise Sheanbegg also Shyenbegg with their appurtenances situated in co Waterford
By which deed such fines and each of them are declared to be to the use of the said Richard Gumbleton the elder and his heirs for ever subject to certain annuities or charges made payable out of them to the said Richard Gumbleton the younger as in said deed is particularly expressed and the said Richard Gumbleton the elder by such deed hath granted unto the said Richard Gumbleton the younger one rent charge or yearly annuity of £100 to be issuing & going out of the aforesaid lands of Castle Richard, otherwise Ballygarran and one other rent charge or yearly annuity of the like sum of £100 out of the lands of Ummery and Tonorde East and West Knocknalleygadromy in the Barony of Muskerry co Cork such rent charge or annuity amounting in the whole to the sum of £200 yearly to be paid to the said Richard Gumbleton the younger during the life of the said Richard Gumbeton the elder as in such deed is particularly expressed.

Deed recites that William Hayes did by indented deeds of lease and release duly executed in consideration of the sum of £1000 grand and convey in mortgage unto Henry Connor late of Bandon co Cork clerk but then chanter of the cathedral church of Waterford all that the town and lands of Comin otherwise Comeen or by whatever name the same are called situate in Barony of Kiuricurrity[?] co Cork to hold with appurtenances unto the said Henry Connor his heirs and assigns for ever subject to a condition of redemption in said deed contained whereby the same is declared void on payment of the said sum of £1000 and reciting also that by other deed of lease and release the said Henry Connor for the consideration therein mentioned did release and convey unto Shapland Carew Esq council at law and William Connor of Connorville co Cork esq and their heirs the said mortgage premises of Comin by the name of Crosshaven and all his right and equity of redemption therein to certain noes in said last mentioned deed of release mentioned subject to the said provision condition of release and also reciting that by an indented deed of assignment they the said Shapland Carew and William Connor did with the approbation of the said Henry Connor and William Hayes grant and convey unto the said Richard Gumbleton all that the said mortgaed premises of Comin so conveyed as aforesaid in mortgage by the said William Hayes to the said Henry Connor and by him assigned to the said Shapland Carew and William Connor by the name of hte town and lands of Crosshaven by which said indented deeds of lease and release so made between him and the said Richard Gumbleton and the said excutors of the said William Hayes he the said Richard Gumbleton for and in consideration of the sum of £1048 to be paid by the said executors of the said WIlliam Hayes did reconvey and confirm unto the said executors all that the said mortgaged premises with the appurtenances and all the right and title of him the said Richard Gumbleton therein to hold unto the said executors of the said William Hayes their heirs and assigns for ever.
