In the name of God amen the five and twentieth day of May Anno Domini one
thousand seven hundred and two I John Gumbleton of Portsmouth in the county
of South[amp]ton Gent being good health and of perfect mind and memory doe
make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following Impri[mis]
I commit my soul to God and my body to the earth. Item I give to Eliza~ my wife
lately called Eliza Garrett widd[ow] the sum of fifty pounds to be paid her
within three months after my death Item I give to her all my household goods
Item I give to her the sum of twenty pounds per ann[um] to be paid to her by
quarterly payments for and during the term of her natural life without any
reductions or abatements on any pretence or account whatsoever Item I give to
John and James Garrett and each of htem five pounds. To my brother Jonathan
Gumbleton five pounds. To each of his children five shillings. To John Masters
William Barnes and Moses Staples of the city of Sarum clothiers and each of
them five pounds to be paid within three months after my death.
Item all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels and estate
my debts and funeral expenses being paid I give and bequeath to my son Obadiah
Benjamin Gumbleton but in case he die before me then out of the said residue
of my estate I give to my said sons in law John and James Garrett and each of
them one hundred pounds to be paid within three months of my decease and the
overplus thereof to Mary and Sarah children of my said brother equally to be
divided between them and do make the said John Masters William Barnes and Moses
Staples executors of this my will requiring them to see this my will duely
performed in witness whereof revoking all other wills by me made I have to
this my last will and testament put my hand and seal the day and year above
written.
