| Elizabeth Gumbleton was born in 1846, in St Martin's registration district, London.
In 1851, aged 5, she was living with her family at 4, Tiverton Street, Newington, Surrey, where her father was a shoemaker. She was described as a day scholar. Some of the family, including Elizabeth, must have travelled to the West Indies in the 1860s, and Elizabeth was married in Port of Spain, Trinidad on 6 May 1867, to Charles Fourier STOLLMEYER, the son of Conrad F STOLLMEYER, asphalt manufacturer.
Apparently, Mrs. Stollmeyer (nee Gumbleton) had simple taste and found the building too elaborate for her fancy, and she and her husband did not move into it. Instead, they gave it to their son, Conrad C. Stollmeyer, who was about to be married and who moved into the house in 1904. | ||
