"THE MOST SUCCESSFUL SHOW OF THE BRIGHTON FESTIVAL 2000"

.....no kidding..........!!!

"I think there's something living in there. I think there's something alive....."

Too bloody right there's something alive in there. Squillions of "Withnail" devotees slavering over pints of Guinness in their locals, waiting for the next incarnation of their filmic bete noir.

WELL.......

At last, some idiot has had the balls ("Imagine the size of his balls....") to transfer this amazing movie to another genre - namely - the immediacy of the spoken word - THEATRE.

And what a success it was, too. Twelve performances and NINE Full Houses! You can't hope for more! The show played to over 2,200 people during the run.

Somehow, one just knew it would be big, but even I was astounded at the response. We even had a few bods turn up in long "Withnail" coats!

Cheers all round at certain lines; people waiting for their favourite bits; and standing ovations on at least six occasions.

WHEN.....

The Brighton International Festival in May 2000. Second only in size and importance to the Edinburgh Festival, the Brighton Festival in May each year now attracts over 200,000 people to it's events, exhibitions, performances and gigs.

WHERE.....

Sitting in the heart of Brighton's bohemian 'North Laines' area, the  KOMEDIA is one of the south coast's premiere touring theatre and cabaret venues, and was the perfect venue for our 'sell-out' run of the show.

"THE MOST SUCCESSFUL SHOW WE'VE EVER HAD"       Dave Lavender, KOMEDIA director.

CASTING

OK. The jobs done! This was the cast - and a brilliant job they did too!

We hope to be keeping the original cast if and when we transfer to the West End and then go on to tour the show.

WITHNAIL                         Mark Burgess   (Brookside, Another Country, Wuthering Heights)

MARWOOD                        Richard Felix   (Little Shop of Horrors, Buddy, Chicago)

UNCLE MONTY                  Robert Austin    (Lovejoy, Casualty, Mr. Bean, Crazy For You)

DANNY & as cast             Adam Brooks     (les Miserables, Rocky Horror, Me and My Girl)

JAKE & as cast                 Wayne Jackman (Campion, The Bill, The Caretaker)

PRESUMING ED                 Sidney Sloane  (The Dumb Waiter, The Lesson, Remember April)
