Support

For usage instructions and more see the TrackPacker Help file. The Help file also includes some trouble-shooting information for multiple Flanker installations and more. See below for additional info about known problems and bugs. If you have a problem that isn't described in the Help file or here on this page, try posting about the problem in the Flanker 2 forum at the LOMAC site.

Known issues

You may experience the following issues in the latest release.

"Cannot find the TrackPacker.hlp help file..."

When Windows asks for the file, browse and locate the file in the TrackPacker program folder (default location is "C:\Program Files\TrackPacker"). Windows then remembers the help file location permanently so that you avoid the same message next time.

Training menu problems ("cannot find ?")

If your Flanker training menu is working properly, TrackPacker should be able to install tracks on it without problem. If it is not, you'll have to upgrade the training menu to the latest format. You can do this by downloading the Flanker 2.5 training update from the Flanker 2 site.

"This program has performed an illegal operation..." (crash)

TrackPacker will crash if a required audio codec (coder/decoder) is not found on your system. By default, TrackPacker uses the DSP Group TrueSpeech codec due to its very low bitrate (1 KB/s). Hence most packages use this codec. Usually the TrueSpeech codec is installed by default by Windows (see Control Panel | Multimedia | Devices | Audio Compression Codecs). If it is not on your system, you have to install it. In Windows 98, go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. Select the Windows Setup page, double-click Multimedia, and check Audio Compression. Press OK to complete the setup. (If Audio Compression is already checked, you will have to uncheck it, complete the setup, then repeat the procedure to check it.)

Track doesn't play correctly

Unfortunately, a track may fail to play correctly on a version of Flanker other than the version on which it was recorded. In a few cases a track may even play incorrectly on some setups and computers despite using the correct version of Flanker. The track incompatibility is a problem with Flanker, not TrackPacker.

Corrected issues

The issues below have been corrected. If you are using an older version of TrackPacker, you should download and upgrade to the most recent version.

TrackPacker stops responding when the audition button is used

On Windows 2000/XP, a bug causes TrackPacker to hang if the audition button is used.

The Remove command fails to remove the audio folder

On Windows 2000/XP, TrackPacker is unable to remove the audio folder, even though it is empty.

"Unable to copy sound file"

TrackPacker fails installation if the audition file is playing when the Install button is pressed.

Crash/"Flanker ... not found" (F2.5 problem)

TrackPacker expects certain Windows Registry entries to have been set up by the Flanker installation program. TrackPacker uses these entries to locate Flanker without intervention by the user. Unfortunately, TrackPacker has a bug that causes it to crash if these entries are not found or not set correctly, which causes problems with the new Flanker 2.5 release because of changed registry entries. To use TrackPacker with Flanker 2.5 you'll have to update the registry with the entries required by TrackPacker.

"Unable to delete temporary directory"

TrackPacker has a problem that makes it unable to pack tracks on Windows NT/2000. The packing process aborts with the message above.

"Error: Unknown file type."

If you get this error message, the file extension is probably uppercase, e.g. "SomePackage.F2T". TrackPacker requires the file extension to be lowercase, e.g. "SomePackage.f2t". Just rename the file. If extensions are hidden on your system, e.g. you see only "SomePackage", go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | View | Folder Options | View. Clear the checkbox that says "Hide file extensions...".

"Cannot find ?"

The training menu installation feature in TrackPacker 1.0 doesn't work with Flanker 2.03 and later. Menu items appear, but you get and error message when you select it ("Cannot find ?").

"Unable to find file"

TrackPacker 1.0 doesn't work with file names with periods (full stops), eg. "Test in 2.03.trk". Remove/replace periods (except before the extension, of course), eg. "Test in 2-03.trk".

"Text file not found"

When packing, if you try to specify a text file that is located in the root folder of a drive, it will not be found unless the track is in the same location. To avoid this, always put the text file in the same folder as the track before packing. If you do that, and also name the text file the same as the track, it will be suggested by TrackPacker automatically.
