| Moto Guzzi Breva V1200
Sports Tourer
The new Breva incorporates all the versatility and easy riding
character of Moto Guzzi's touring models to date, with the addition of refined looks,
the latest digital technology, and a unique reactive
shaft drive system.
Breva V1200 Reactive Shaft Drive
The most significant technical innovation in
the Breva V1200 is
reactive shaft drive, patented by the Moto Guzzi under the name ‘CA.R.C.’ (‘Cardano
Reattivo Compatto’ - Compact Reactive Shaft Drive).
In brief:
- The patented drive
shaft is incorporated inside the aluminium alloy swing arm.
- The pinion gear
and the drive shaft are free to oscillate inside the swing arm.
- The drive
shaft is equipped with two universal joints with built-in torsional dampers
for optimum transmission response.
The main benefit of this original and extremely compact drive system is the
elimination of the counter-shaft effect typical of conventional shaft
drives. Unlike alternative systems, Moto Guzzi’s patented reactive
shaft drive enables a single piece swing arm to be used. Because the
reaction shaft is not load-bearing, it is perfectly reliable in operation.
The new system ensures a consistently smooth ride, without the jerks on
acceleration or deceleration that are inevitable with conventional shaft
drives.
The new system maintains all the other advantages of shaft drive
including cleanliness, low noise levels and very low maintenance.
