Robson steers Atkinson to win on Clark

Dave Robson took HBCC top co-driver points at the Jim Clark Memorial National Rally on 13 July by a mere 1.3 seconds from  Ann Wood.

Guiding BECC's Nigel Atkinson in his Escort Cosworth, Dave kept his cool as Andrew and Ann Wood pulled away from the first stage. A 15 sec lead on first stage Langton was extended to a minute on Eccles and Swinton. Dave seized the chance in Fogo as the Woods hit trouble dropping around 6 minutes, which despite some great times on the following 5 stages was just not enough to secure Ann the coveted first slot in the Club Stage Championship. Nigel and Dave came 19th overall, with the Wood's in 20th position.

Ian Baumgart and Gail Hislop got together again in Ian's Impreza, and made it 24th overall, 8th in class.

Ian Maxwell teamed up with brother Alistair in the  Maxwell Nova getting a 7th in class and 28th overall, keeping ahead of the Hogg/Hanna Mitsubishi Lancer in a class above, by nearly 16 seconds.

Brian Middlemas was not going to miss a run on the Clark with his infamous red Avenger. A lot of work rebuilding engines and the like were rewarded by a second in class, only 2m13s behind class winners Malcolm Forster and Mike Hall in a Ford Escort. With co-driver  Kevin Rae the pair collected the best SRC class ward, "Anderson of Chirnside". A 36 overall was good going in a very competitive field.
