he was still well-known and popular within the county. Our thoughts
and condolences go to his family at this sad time.

GREENE KING REGIONAL FINALS
... |
|
4 April 2005 -
A number of Hampshire players will be in action on Saturday 16th
April at The Rowing Machine, Witney, Oxfordshire as they try to
claim one of the eight places available in the West Region Finals
for the UK Open. These 8 will join 8 each from the South, North and
East who will then be added to the top 128 professionals for the
Grand Finals at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton in June.
Sam Rooney will be eager to win a
return visit to the finals after qualifying in 2004. Sam, Paul Gibbs
and Colin Philpott look the best bets on paper but there are a
number of quality former county players like Richard Kirby, Roy
Francis, Andy Portelli, Carole Shinar and Gareth Evans involved.
Together with the other players who have fought through the pub
rounds all these players are only three or four games away from
glory and a chance of a TV appearance! |

MIDLANDS BOARD ALLOCATIONS
... |
2
April 2005 -
The board allocations for next weekend's last Budweiser UK Open heat
have been made. The Midlands event will be staged in Sheffield and
Ian Eames and Andy Jenkins are drawn in one of the toughest groups
together with Kevin Painter and Dennis Priestley.
James Wade will have to contend with the likes of Peter Manley,
Steve Coote and Sean Palfrey. Aaron Turner's board includes Jamie
Harvey, Terry Jenkins and Andy Smith while Colin Monk is grouped
with Paul Williams and Denis Ovens.
Ian Critchett could face opposition from Cliff Lazarenko and top
seed Colin Lloyd while Bob Crawley's board will see Mark Walsh,
Darren Webster and Simon Whatley. Robert Heard's group has Wayne
Jones, Richie Burnett and Alan Caves listed.
Andy Jenkins, James Wade, Colin Monk and Bob Crawley are assured of
a place in the Bolton finals. Ian Critchett and Aaron Turner look
safe in the current table but they together with Ian Eames and
Robert Heard will all be eager to make sure of their own place at
