BRITISH INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP ...
28 April 2007 - Roy Brown is part of the England squad competing against Wales and Scotland at Bridlington's Leisure World this weekend.

In his opening match against Wales he is unfortunate to draw an in form Mark Webster who has the throw in the odd legs. Mark wins by three legs to two and is the only Welsh player to average over ninety on the day.

Only John Walton, Tony Eccles and Scott Waites have better averages today than Roy so hopefully he will get a second game tomorrow against Scotland. The England Wales clash ends in a 6-6 draw.

Basingstoke based Roy finished 10th in the British Inter County Average table this season with eight wins from nine at over 84 a throw.

The Men's A team finish third in their section.

Steve Phipps played his 100th game this afternoon and Roy Brown set a new Men's Appearance record of 148 appearances, finally overhauling Roger Whitcombe's total of 147 which has headed the list since he retired in 1993.

Only Jenny Fenton has now played more matches for Hampshire with a massive total of 216 between her 1977 debut and 2003 retirement.

The 32 man field will be divided into eight pools of four, then four pools of four and then a straight knockout from the quarter finals onwards.

James Wade is already included in the main event which is made up of the top 12 in the PDC Order of Merit and the top 12 from the BDO invitation list.

The final eight places will come from a Friday night qualifying phase which comprises 8 groups of 4. The players involved here are the numbers 13 to 16 from the PDC Order of Merit, 4 promoter's wildcards, 16 further players from the BDO invitation list and eight PDPA qualifiers.

Andy Jenkins and Paul Hogan will both be involved at this phase and could be joined by three other Hampshiremen at the weekend.

Ian Critchett, Jamie Kelling and Colin Monk are all four wins away from a trip to Holland as they take part in the PDPA qualifying competition at Aston Villa's Holte Suite on Saturday.

TRANSPLUS ANDOVER CLASSIC ...
7 April 2007 - After eight hours of the highest quality darts, Dennis Smith confirmed his return to form with a
magnificent performance in lifting the 4th Andover Invitation Darts Classic sponsored by Transplus Ltd.

He clinched the £1000 prize with a 12 dart leg and 136 finish in the final leg of the fifth and deciding set against the former UK Open finalist Mark Walsh.

Testament to the quality of the 64 player field was that many top name stars failed to make it onto the stage.
Last year's winner James Wade was beaten 5-4 in the quarters by Aaron Turner who also collected the £350
highest check out award with 149.

Turner had earlier accounted for Wes Newton 5-4, and the rising Blackpool star subsequently donated his

£50 winnings to Andover's Unicorn Darts Academy.

Southampton's Mark Haskett played well all day before succumbing to Walsh in the semi final.

Wiltshire's Paul Cook, Hampshire's Paul Gibbs and Surrey's Lionel Sams could only reach the last 16 as could

Andover's father and son pairing of Colin and Arron Monk.

Monk junior continues his excellent progress and picked up the best Andover player Award with Academy achievement awards going to the talented Charlotte Burgess and Dominic Ware.

Results in detail: 1. (£1000) Dennis Smith, 2. (£500) Mark Walsh, 3-4. (£250) Aaron Turner, Mark Haskett. 5-8. (£125) Sam Rooney, James Wade, Kev Ede, Peter Evison. 9-16. (£50) Paul Gibbs, Colin Monk, Peter Bailey. Lionel Sams, Paul Cook, Wes Newton, Ali MacDonald, Arron Monk.

Glen Dawkins on behalf of Andover Invitation Darts wishes to thank the players and spectators for their incredible generosity. They spontaneously raised an amazing £400 for the Unicorn Youth Academy.

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY ...
6 April 2007 - Roy Brown loses 2-3 to Mikel van Maastrigt in the England v Netherlands match at Lakeside. Men's Ladies and Junior matches make up the match and the Dutch lead by 6-5 going into the evening session.

BLUE SQUARE UK OPEN FINALS ...
4 April 2007 - Hampshire will be well represented at the finals of the televised £150,000 event at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton in June.

James Wade's excellent form over the eight regional finals qualifies him in second place behind title-holder Raymond van Barneveld. Andy Jenkins finishes in 30th place. Both will join the event in Round 4 and will be guaranteed a payday of £1,000 no matter what happens.

Colin Monk comes into the event in Round 3 after placing 52nd.

Aaron Turner will start in Round 1 but Bob Crawley, Jason Crawley and Rikki Williams could face a preliminary round match before the first round starts.

Andy, Bob, Colin and James have qualified for each of the five UK Open Grand finals to date. Aaron has appeared at Bolton before but it will be a new experience for young players Jason Crawley and Rikki Williams.

It is a tremendous achievement for Rikki who has only taken part in 5 pro tour events so far. Obviously playing under the same guidance of Jason Thame that Andy Jenkins and James Wade enjoy pays dividends!

32 Amateur qualifiers from Punch Taverns will join the 144 players already qualified and "The FA Cup of Darts" starts on Thursday 7 June 2007, continues on the Friday and Saturday and concludes on the Sunday. The draw will take place on 14 May 2007.

Wendy Reinstadtler is the pick of the Ladies A team in their 2-4 defeat.

Yorkshire take the weekend by 19-17.

BLUE SQUARE UK OPEN MIDLANDS ...
1 April 2007 - James Wade reaches the final at Nottingham but goes down to Team Unicorn stablemate Andy Hamilton after wins over Barrie Bates and Kevin McDine.
