beats James Wade in the quarter finals. Richie Buckle however has
the last laugh and wins the event by beating John in the final |

beats John Ferrell to win the Greenhithe Open at Bexley near
Dartford. |

August 2004 - Jane
Monaghan (pictured left) reaches the last sixteen at the Danish Open
at Farum before going down to eventual semi-finalist Karen Littler.
This result places Jane at 16th in the provisional BDO table for
invitations to the Lakeside World Championship, but more importantly
second behind Trina Gulliver in the table that counts towards the
2005 World Trophy. Around a third of the events have been completed
and Jane's target will be to finish in the top six after the 2005
Welsh Open. |

August 2004 - John
Burbidge just missed out on qualifying for the finals at Derby to
John Hendy from Derbyshire. He had recorded earlier wins over Paul
Cairnson and Ian McLean. Anthony Whitcher beat Simon Smith but lost
to eventual qualifier Mark Frost from Staffordshire.
Jill Field lost to Warwickshire's
Lesley Newcombe who also made it through to the Grand Finals at
Bridlington in October. |

August 2004 - Gosport Select win the
national British Champions Cup title at Derby. They beat teams from
Derbyshire 5-4, Hertfordshire 8-1 and Yorkshire 6-3 to become the
second Hampshire winners of the event after Shirley's 1995 success. |

August 2004 -
Hampshire representatives John Burbidge and Anthony Whitcher will be
trying to reach the Winmau World Masters Finals at the English
National play-off at Derby. Former South African International player
Jill Field will be vying for a place in the Ladies Masters.
At the same venue the Gosport Select
Mens Super League Team will once again attempt to lift the British
Champions Cup. They have competed several times in the finals over
the years but have yet to win.

August 2004 - Hampshire players will be taking part in
one of Europe's oldest events, the Danish Open at the Farum Arena. |

weekend's Great Britain Finals but Portsmouth Ladies' hopes are
dashed by their Middlesex opponents in their first match by 2-5. |

Portsmouth's John Andrews beats Robert Metcalfe from
Sussex to win the regional Winmau World Boys Championship play off
at Cosham RBL. Another Portsmouth player Ricky Williams reaches the
semi finals. Kellie
Hammond from Brighton in Sussex wins through in the Girls' event
against Surrey's Angela Crook. Hampshire's Stacey Wheeler is
unfortunately unable to take part due to a clash with Portsmouth's
match in the British Champions Cup.
John and Kellie will now both compete in the World Finals in Bridlington in October. |

The North
Hampshire Super League are on the lookout for new recruits in both
the Mens and Ladies game. A special registration day will be held on
on Sunday 22 August 2004 with the added incentive of a Singles event
on the day for players who register. There will be a prize fund of
£100 plus the entry fees returned. Registration is between midday
and 1.00 p.m. at the Academy Snooker Centre, Moniton Trading Estate,
Basingstoke. If you require any more information contact Darren

2004 - Cosham RBL
plays host to some of the great hopes for the future of darts with a
regional heat in the Winmau World Youth Masters. John Andrews and
Ricky Williams will carry Hampshire's hopes in the boys' event while
Stacey Wheeler is the representative in the girls' event. Other
counties involved are Cornwall, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex.
On the same afternoon Gosport Select's
Men and Portsmouth's Ladies face opposition from Berkshire,
Buckinghamshire, Middlesex, Oxfordshire, Surrey and Sussex at the
Britwell Ex-Servicemen's Club at Slough as they both try to make the
Great Britain Finals of the British Champions' Cup. Portsmouth
Ladies have already eliminated the 2003 Champions Shirley in the
Hampshire final. |

Jane Monaghan and Karen
Williams reach the quarter finals of the Ladies doubles where they
are beaten by the number 4 seeds Carina Ekberg and Barbara Lee.
Angela Hogan partners Elisabeth Halvorssen but they are beaten in
their opening match by Maud Jansson and Paulina Söderström. Paul
Hogan partners Dutchman Jozef Wolters and they reach the last
sixteen before number 3 seeds and eventual winners Vincent van der
Voort and Albertino Essers eliminate them. |

Southsea's Jane Monaghan (pictured
left) reaches the Norwegian Open Final in Sandvika, near Oslo by
beating Clare Bywaters 3-2 in the semi final. Unfortunately World's
Number One lady player and top seed Trina Gulliver denies her a first singles
title win on the
European circuit winning 4-2 but the placing should catapult Jane
close to the top 20 after only six months of chasing the points.
Angela Hogan receives a bye in the
first round but is eliminated in the last 32 by Paulina Söderström
just missing the rankings points.
Ted Hankey beats Tony Eccles to the
Mens title as Paul Hogan suffers an early defeat to 14 seed Co Stompé
in the last 64, just
back from his semi-final spot in the Australian Pacific Masters. |

The latest official PDC list released this week has Andy Jenkins
forcing his way into the top eight in the table, largely as a result
of his impressive recent form.
James Wade (pictured left) makes his first appearance
in the upper reaches of the table at number 50 and no doubt it won't
be long before the Aldershot based youngster climbs even higher and
becomes a regular fixture in the Sky TV events. |

reaches the last 32 of the British Classic losing to Les Hodkinson.
Paul Gibbs, Mike Clarkson and Darren Hawken make the last 128, Graham Baker the
last 64 and Jane Monaghan makes the last 64 of
the Ladies event losing to Sandra Greatbatch. Darryl Fitton beats Tony Eccles to win the title
and Dee Bateman beats Trina Gulliver in the Ladies final. |
