Paul Hogan beat Darren Barnes 6-4 in the final to take the title.
Paul had beaten Sam Rooney in the semi finals while Darren Barnes
ended the hopes of Lionel Sams. Dan Woodcraft, John Brine, Tony
Vince and Glen Dawkins all reached the quarter finals. Helen Kay was
the best lady player and Jamie Kelling the best Andover Youth Academy
player. |

Following last month's Annual General Meeting, Hampshire's elected
administrative team for the 2006/2007 season is listed below.
President - Bert Kelly, Chairman -
Dave Keith, General Secretary and Treasurer - Frank Branscombe,
Assistant to the General Secretary - Gill Brown, Executive Members -
Eileen Butcher and Doreen Stamper, Registrar - Tracey Bartlett,
Statistics - Steve Monaghan, Men's Team Manager - vacancy to be
filled at the first county fixture, Ladies Team Manager - Brenda
Cummings, Men's Team Captain - Steve Ballard, Ladies Team Captain -
Angela Hogan, Youth - Wendy Truran, Press - Mike Bennett, Master of
Ceremonies - Rick Cousins, Equipment - Adam Curnow and Brian Laws.
General Secretary and Treasurer Frank
Branscombe celebrates 25 years of association with HCDO having been
first elected as Chairman and County Organiser in 1981.
The coming season also sees a 25 year
association with Trophyman Supplies celebrated. Trophyman Supplies
have provided the player of the match awards for all fixtures during

The 1990 'News of the World' Champion, Paul Cook from Swindon won
the Basingstoke Open Singles at Oakridge West Community Centre. He
beat Steve Shadwell 5-2 in the final. Semi-finalists were Dennis
Smith and Craig Griffiths and the last eight featured Graham Skipp,
Martin Richell, Jason Crawley and Mark Hazeldine.
Bob Crawley and Jason Crawley won the
Open Pairs accounting for Johnny Haines and Martin Richell in the
final. Dennis Murrell and Rory Sherwood and Tony Vince and Andy
Hobbs reached the last four. |

Jane Monaghan qualifies for the Ladies World Finals through the
English National play-off. Unfortunately Paul Gibbs misses out
on a place in the Men's Finals losing in the last but one round. Ian Burnett
is beaten in the opening round. |

Unfortunately Gosport Select are beaten 6-3 by the Yorkshire outfit
Markham Main
in their first match at the National finals. The Yorkshiremen go on to
reach the final but are edged 5-4 by the Leamington Sydenham team from Warwickshire.
Newmarket Flyers take the Ladies title. |

England International Roy Brown (pictured left) beat Alan Yates 4-2
to win the Kevin Vickery Singles at the Basingstoke Academy Snooker
Centre. Kenny Winter and Paul Hollis lost in the semi-finals and
Mark Hazeldine. John Brine, Colin Monk and Paul Sibley made the last
eight.Gill Brown beat Jo
Sibley 4-1 in the Ladies final to complete a family double. |

Gosport Select Men reach next week's grand finals by winning the
regional heat in Dorchester. They won the title in 2004 but were
narrowly beaten in last year's final. Unfortunately Shirley Ladies
who won the 2003 Ladies title were unable to join them. |

Edmunds, Andy Elvin, Steve Hayter, Paul Hogan, Tony Hutchinson, Rick
Lowther, Andy Mitchell, Dennis Murrell, Steve Phillips, Steve
Phipps, Danny Pinhorne, Nilsson Pritchard, Matt Richards, Sam
Rooney, Danny Smith, Barry Stevens and Tony Whitcher.
Ladies: Maria Agozzino, Jill Field, Elaine Harty,
Angela Hogan, Mandy Keith, Pennie Lewis, Sue Lowther, Jane Monaghan, Wendy Reinstadtler, Carole Shinar, Dawn Simmonds, Stephanie Smee and Nikki Stevens.
Team Captains are Steve Ballard for
the Men and Angela Hogan for the Ladies. Brenda Cummings remains as
Ladies Team Manager and Rick Lowther is acting Men's Team Manager
until the election of a replacement which will take place at the
Cambridgeshire fixture in September. |
