EASTBOURNE
INTERNATIONAL DARTS WEEKEND ... |
|
30 January-1
February 2004 - A huge Hampshire contingent always makes
the short trip along the coast to Eastbourne’s Winter Gardens for
its International Darts Weekend and this time, as often before Andy
Jenkins was the top performer.
He featured well in both ranked
singles events with a last four spot in the Professional event
including a ten dart leg during the afternoon and a run to the
quarter finals in the Open Singles. Ronnie Baxter got the better of
him in the Professional event and Al Hedman in the Open Singles but
neither were a match for Dutch Master Roland Scholten in their
respective finals.
Ranking points were also earned by
Aaron Turner and James Wade in the last 32 and 64 of the
Professional event and by Mick Cookman in the last 16, Steve Phipps
and Paul Hogan in the last 32 of the Open Singles.
Jane Monaghan continued her rise to
prominence reaching the Ladies semi finals. Jane is likely to travel
to some of the ranked opens this season and on this showing it will
not be long before she features in the later stages of another
major event. |
