BRITISH INTER COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP ...
22 January 2006 - A 4-2 win in the Ladies A and a 6-6 draw in the Mens A mean Hampshire beat Kent by 22-14 overall and remain second in the league table.

Top performers on the Sunday were Roy Brown and Laura Power. Roy had an excellent 100.20 average and won his match with a classy 170 finish and surely stands an excellent chance of England selection next month.


STAN JAMES PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP GIBRALTAR ...
21 January 2006 - Andy Jenkins and James Wade both reach the last 16 of Gibraltar's first professional event before Jason Clark and Ronnie Baxter halt their progress. Colin Monk had also lost out to Jason Clark in the last 64 and in the same round Ian Critchett was unlucky to be edged out by James Wade in a tight match.

A surprise but very welcome visitor at the Victoria Stadium was former Hampshire player Harry Paine. Harry was enjoying a long holiday nearby in Spain and travelled a few extra miles across the border to catch up with a few old friends.

Dennis Priestley beat Terry Jenkins in the final.


BRITISH INTER COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP ...
21 January 2006 - Two wins from Hampshire against Kent at the Six in One Club, Tonbridge give the county a healthy 12-6 lead overnight. The Ladies B win 4-2 and the Mens B win 8-4.

Top performances are Aaron Turner and Carole Shinar.

Nilsson Pritchard makes his debut in the Mens B Team and the Ladies B Team remain top of their division.


TRANSPLUS ANDOVER CLASSIC 2006 ...
15 January 2006 - The automatic places in this event in April have already been snapped up. However there are 4 places for qualifiers up for grabs at the Entertainer, Andover on Saturday 25th February.

13 January 2006 - The first professional event in Gibraltar takes place on Saturday 21st January. This is the first of the nine 2006 PDPA Players Championships and each has a prize fund of £20,000.

12 January 2006 - The Kelisha Cup Charity Mens and Ladies Singles in aid of the Winchester Hospital Special Care Baby Unit will be held on Friday 17th March 2006 at the Eastleigh Loco Club.

12 January 2006 - Paul Hogan stages a great comeback from 4-1 behind to level against Jelle Klaasen at the Lakeside but it is the 21 year old Dutchman that holds his nerve in the last set to move into the semi finals.

10 January 2006 - Paul Hogan wins 4-2 against another Dutchman Albertino Essers to reach the last eight at Lakeside.

8 January 2006 - James Wade has to be content with £500 as Alex Roy beats him in the quarter finals at Newcastle.

7 January 2006 - James Wade forces his way through to Sunday's quarter finals from the Sunderland half of the draw. At the Newcastle venue, Andy Jenkins reaches the last 32 losing to Adrian Lewis and Ian Eames makes the last 64 before Jason Clark ends his hopes. However Ian Critchett, Colin Monk, Aaron Turner and Sam Rooney all go down in their opening matches.

7 January 2006 - Paul Hogan storms to a 3-0 win over Dutchman Mareno Michels at the Lakeside Country Club in the opening round.

BUDWEISER UK OPEN - NORTH EAST REGIONAL BOARD ALLOCATIONS ...
2 January 2006 - This weekend sees the top PDC players straight back in action on the ranking circuit as the UK Open series reaches its half way mark at Newcastle and Sunderland. Steve Hine defends the title he won last January with a marvellous display against a difficult draw from start to finish.

However, joining the newest recruits to the PDPA ranks is Sam Rooney who has qualified for the Bolton UK finals in both 2004 and 2005. Sam has played 50 matches for Hampshire's county team and was an outstanding junior, reaching the semi final of both the World and British Championships.
