- Basingstoke based Paul Hogan beats Gary Anderson by 2
sets to 1 in the
final of the British Classic at Kettering. Gary Anderson had beaten
Aldershot's James Wade in the last 32 of the event earlier in the
afternoon.
Paul now stands at number 11 in the WDF Men's ranking table
which is based on the last twelve months' results in various
worldwide events. Portsmouth's Jane Monaghan is 30th in the
equivalent Ladies' table. |

- Hampshire B are the winners of the British Youth KO
Cup. Wins over Hampshire A by 5-2, Essex B by 5-2, Norfolk A by 4-3
and Dorset A by 4-3 saw them in the final against Renfrewshire who
they beat 5-2. Hampshire last
won this trophy in 1996 beating Lancashire but have been runners up
in 1992, 1998 and 2002 losing to Essex, Glamorgan and Renfrewshire. |

- Aaron Monk has a marvellous run to the semi-finals of
the British Teenage Championship at Kettering. Aaron is the son of
top professional player Colin Monk and has in the last couple of
years beginning to make a great impression of his own in the game.
Ricky WIlliams made the quarter finals
losing out to Aaron. Tim Hope reached the last sixteen and Matt
Tunstall lasted until the last 32 of the national finals. |

- A couple of local events that players may want to put
in their diary are coming up in the next few weeks.
On Sunday 14th August 2005 at the
Oakridge West Community Centre the 9th Basingstoke Open will take
place. The Singles winner will get £300, Pairs Winner £200. Entry is
£5 per person in each. Register between 10:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.
for a noon start. There is a limit on entries of 64 players. Contact
Kevan Merritt on 01256-410843 for full details.
A few weeks later on Saturday 3rd
September 2005 Boddington's Brewery have a £500 first prize up for
grabs at the Hampshire Rose, Waterlooville, just north of
Portsmouth. Prize money goes down to the last eight and entries are
£5 per player. Register 10:00 a.m. for 11:00 a.m. start. Contact

dashed by John Part who remarkably reels off 11 of the last 12 legs
to overturn a 7-2 deficit and run out a 13-8 winner. John now faces

- Andy Jenkins will play Darren Webster in the televised
Stan James World Matchplay first round at Blackpool later this
month. Andy seeded tenth will face seventh seed John Part or Kelvin
Painter in the second round should he be successful against the
