ANDOVER EVENTS ...
Two more events in the Andover area over the coming weeks are the John Taylor Memorial on Saturday 14 July 2007 and the Academy Youth Darts Singles on Sunday 26 August 2007.

Both events will be held at 'The Entertainer' and full details on entry can be found at www.andoverdarts.org.


STAN JAMES WORLD MATCHPLAY ...
17 June 2007 - The draw for the Stan James World Matchplay was made today and 11th seed James Wade will open his campaign against Wayne Jones. Andy Jenkins seeded 14th plays Mark Walsh. Both play their opening matches in the afternoon session of 24 July at Blackpool Winter Gardens.

HAYLING ISLAND PLAYERS' CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY ...
17 June 2007 - James Wade makes the last 16 of the professional tour event at Lakeside Holiday Village Hayling Island where Dennis Priestley beats him for a second time in the weekend, this time by 3-0. Aaron Turner and Colin Monk make the last 32 and Ian Eames, Bob Crawley and Robert Heard make the last 64.

John Part beats Mervyn King in the final.


ENGLISH OPEN ...
17 June 2007 - Paul Gibbs reaches the quarter finals of the English Open Men's Singles before losing to Ted Hankey. Steffi Smee lasts until the last sixteen of the English open Ladies' Singles. Both events are held at Brean Sands. Ted Hankey and Anastasia Dobromyslova win the events.

HAYLING ISLAND PLAYERS' CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY ...
16 June 2007 - James Wade reaches the last 16 of the first of two professional tour events at Lakeside Holiday Village, Hayling Island. Colin Monk reaches the last 64 and Terry Jenkins beats Wes Newton 3-0 in the final.

MICKY COLLINS MEMORIAL IN ANDOVER ...
16 June 2007 - Kev Ede beat Jeff White in today's final. Over £200 was raised for the British Heart Foundation.

NEW DARTS CORRESPONDENT FOR PORTSMOUTH NEWS AND SPORTS MAIL ...

Lee Todd has been appointed darts correspondent for The News and Sports Mail, in Portsmouth, following Mike Bennett’s departure.

Lee has played darts locally for several years and has previously written for various magazines and regional newspapers.

He said: “I’m looking forward to my new role. Everyone involved in local darts who I’ve spoken to so far has been very supportive and I’d like to encourage anyone who knows of something they think might be of interest to get in touch.”

HAYLING ISLAND PLAYERS' CHAMPIONSHIPS ON 16 AND 17 JUNE ...
The PDC Professional Tour is back in Hampshire this weekend. There is added importance as these are the last two Players' Championships that will count towards the Stan James World Matchplay.

Each event has £20,000 in prize money with £5,000 to the winner on both days.

The world's top 28 players are already assured of a place in the £200,000 television showpiece but the last four places will be filled by the four best placed players in the Players' Championship table who are not already qualified at the end of Sunday's event.

The players leading the chase at the moment are Adrian Gray, Michael van Gerwen, Sean Palfrey and Jelle Klaasen but there are a number of players in close contention. Indeed any player not already qualified who reaches either final would certainly take a place at Blackpool.

Hayling Island Players' Championships

The venue is again the Lakeside Holiday village. Day/weekend passes are available at £7/£10 and accommodation can be arranged for anyone wanting to stay

HAYLING ISLAND DARTS CHALLENGE MATCH ON 15 JUNE ...
A Darts Challenge Match is being held on Friday 15th June 2007 at 8.00 p.m. at the West Town pub on Hayling Island.

The 'West Town Wonders' take on 'Deller’s Aces' which includes Keith Deller and Cliff Lazarenko.

STAMFORD OPEN ...
The third Stamford Open event takes place on Sunday 26 August 2007 at the Danish Invader in Stamford, Lincolnshire.

There is a £1,000 first prize and £400 runner-up prize and more details can be found by clicking the link below.

PDC ORDER OF MERIT ...
10 June 2007 - In the new PDC Order of Merit after the UK Open, James Wade is placed 11th and will be one of the automatic qualifiers for next month's televised Las Vegas Desert Classic.

He will also be seeded in the Stan James World Matchplay later in July. He will joined by stablemate Andy Jenkins who will be seeded 14th.


BRITISH GOLD CUP ...
10 June 2007 - Hampshire's British Gold Cup representatives at the Lakeside Country Club next month were determined today after play-offs at Hill Park Memorial WMC.

Andy Mitchell and Sue Lowther will take part in the Men's and Ladies' Singles, Danny Ballard and Rick Lowther will be playing in the Men's Pairs and Jill Field and Rhoda Harby the Ladies' Pairs.


CURLEW OPEN SINGLES ...
9 June 2007 - Mark Walkley beats Ian Eames 4-2 in the final of an Open Singles held at The Curlew, Havant.

BLUE SQUARE UK OPEN SIXTH ROUND ...
9 June 2007 - Colin Monk finally succumbs in the last sixteen to Coventry based Steve Hine.

Steve goes forward to the Sunday quarter finals and the line up will be Raymond van Barneveld v Phil Taylor, Colin Lloyd v Steve Hine, Vincent van der Voort v Terry Jenkins and Colin Osborne v Alan Green.


BLUE SQUARE UK OPEN FIFTH ROUND ...
9 June 2007 - Sam Rooney's dream run comes to an end against former World Champion Richie Burnett who runs out an 11-6 winner but Sam leaves with £1,500 as a consolation.

James Wade is beaten 11-7 by Darren Webster but Colin Monk ensures there is a Hampshireman in the last 16 by defeating Owen Caffrey 11-7.

Phil Taylor hits a remarkable fifth televised nine darter during the round netting a £20,000 bonus, but an even bigger bonus for punters as the sponsors refund all losing outright bets placed before the event started!


BLUE SQUARE UK OPEN FOURTH ROUND ...
9 June 2007 - The big guns enter the fray today and James Wade has a good 11-5 win against former UK Open winner Roland Scholten. Andy Jenkins is beaten 11-8 by Mark Holden and Simon Whatley is beaten by the same scoreline by Mark Dudbridge.

Colin Monk beats Tony Randell 11-8 and Sam Rooney becomes the only Punch Taverns qualifier to reach the last 32 with a big 11-6 win over the very experienced Gary Welding.


BLUE SQUARE UK OPEN THIRD ROUND ...
8 June 2007 - Colin Monk produces the most remarkable comeback of the night from 7-3 behind to edge out Martyn Turner. Bob Crawley goes down 8-6 to Andy Callaby and Tony Randell ends a brave Cliff Lazarenko return by 8-2.

Sam Rooney's run continues as he ends the hopes of Jamie Harvey by 8-4 but young Rikki Williams is just pipped at the post by Lee Palfreyman by 8-7.

Simon Whatley sees off Matt Clark 8-6 but Danny Pinhorne goes down by 8-4 to Top Banana Mark Holden. Danny does leave the event however with the consolation of the £1,000 sponsor's bonus for the highest finish from a Punch Taverns qualifier on 160.


BLUE SQUARE UK OPEN SECOND ROUND ...
8 June 2007 - Rikki Williams continues to make a name for himself with an 8-6 win over Darren Latham and Sam Rooney makes short work of season campaigner Tom Wilson by 8-1.

Bob Crawley has a hard fought 8-6 win over Richard McLaughlin while another former Hampshire player Simon Whatley beats John Burton also by 8-6.

Danny Pinhorne continues his great form with an 8-7 win over Mark Cox and Cliff Lazarenko continues to roll back the years winning 8-4 against Martin Burchell.


BLUE SQUARE UK OPEN FIRST ROUND ...
7 June 2007 - Danny Pinhorne has a great 8-5 win over James Barton. Bob Crawley wins through 8-4 over Stephen Davidson. Rikki Williams has an excellent 8-6 win over former World Championship finalist Dale Newton but there is heartbreak for Jason Crawley who loses out 8-7 against Mark Pooke in his bid to qualify with his father.

Sam Rooney beats former World Youth Master Sean Dowling 8-4, Cliff Lazarenko keeps the dream comeback on track with an 8-3 win over Nigel Payne but Aaron Turner loses out 8-3 to Nicky Turner.


BLUE SQUARE UK OPEN PRELIMINARY ROUND ...
7 June 2007 - The £150,000 "FA Cup of Darts" gets underway at Bolton and Gosport's Justin Henshaw loses narrowly to Gary Blades by 6-8. Rising Portsmouth star Rikki Williams defeats Andrew Gourlay 8-5 and former Hampshire star Cliff Lazarenko is back in the big time with a resounding 8-1 win over Chris Daglish on the main stage.

MICKY COLLINS MEMORIAL SINGLES IN ANDOVER ON 16 JUNE ...

COLIN LLOYD IN ANDOVER ON 14 JUNE ...
Former world number one Colin Lloyd will be on the Entertainer stage on Thursday 14th June taking on many of Andover’s top darters. Jaws is fast returning to top form and currently lying third behind Raymond van Barneveld and Phil Taylor.

Jaws landed a brilliant 9-darter to win the Irish Masters in 2006 and apart from his amazing consistency at the highest level; his most memorable achievement probably came when winning the Stan James World Match Play.
Checking out on 170 to beat John Part 17-10 in the final, he also hit 15 maximum 180s along the way.

Amongst his many other titles Colin is a former winner of the Skybet World Grand Prix and is widely acknowledged as a brilliant exhibitionist.

The 33 year old from Essex will be working with the Andover Academy’s youngsters the night before.

Another bonus will be the chance to meet with Lloyd’s legendary manager Rod Harrington and be sure to bring your darts as there will be two chances to play Jaws to be won in the half-time draw.

SWISS OPEN DOUBLES ...
3 June 2007 - Three Hampshiremen and a Scotsman play out the Swiss Open Doubles final in Lausen. Paul Humphreys and Mark Barilli beat Paul Hogan and Paul Gibbs by 3-2.

Roy Brown teams up with old friend and Lakeside finalist Phill Nixon to make the semi-finals.

Amanda Humphreys and Wendy Reinstadtler reach the semi-finals of the Ladies' Doubles.

Paul Humphreys has also asked for thanks to be passed on to both Roy and Phill for making the weekend such a memorable one for him and his party.


THIALF DARTS TROPHY ...
3 June 2007 - James Wade reached the last eight of the Thialf Darts Trophy in Heerenveen going down to local surprise packed Leroy Kwadijk. James had already beaten Alan Caves, Tim Walop, Alex Roy and Andy Hamilton.

Colin Monk reached the last 64 but was beaten by Jelle Klaasen.


SHEPPEY CLASSIC ...
3 June 2007 - Danny Pinhorne reached the semi-final before losing out to eventual winner Andy Belton.

HAMPSHIRE OPEN ...
2 June 2007 - Rising star Kirk Shepherd (pictured left) took the Daily Echo Hampshire Open at the Southampton Novotel.

The Ramsgate 20 year old went one step further than last year beating Grimsby-based Karl Forrington by 5-1 in the final to take the £1,000 top prize.

Shepherd has twice won the British Teenage Championship and is a former Winmau World Youth Master. He has already gained sponsorship from Unicorn Darts and has already climbed to 165th in the PDC Order of Merit in less than a year.

Last year's winner Neil Raikes made a good defence of his title, reaching the last 8 before Shepherd exacted his revenge for his 2006 defeat.

Best of the local players were Darren Hogg and Danny Pinhorne. Both have previously reached this stage of the event.

2 June 2007 - James Wade beats Mervyn King on his way to the last 16 of the unranked Open Thialf in the Netherlands. Andy Smith stops his progress. Wayne Atwood beats Gary Welding in the final. The Pro Tour event will be held tomorrow.

SWISS OPEN SINGLES ...
2 June 2007 - Paul Gibbs fares best of the travelling Hampshiremen by reaching the last 16 of the Swiss Open at Lausen. Roy Brown defeated Paul Hogan to reach the last 32 but was eliminated by Martin Atkins. Co Stompé beat Edwin Max in an all Dutch final.

Wendy Reinstadtler made the last 8 of the Ladies Singles which was won by Tricia Wright.


TEAM LAS VEGAS BOUND ...
2 June 2007 - A six man team of Andy Jenkins, Sam Rooney, Ged Harrop, Steve Musson, Steve Perren and Robbie Newland have won a national event netting £3,000 and a trip to the Las Vegas Desert Classic each.

ENGLAND JUNIOR TEAM ...
2 June 2007 - Arron Monk has been selected into the team of four boys that will take part in the European Championships in Folkestone in July.

WOOLSTON TRADES LABOUR CLUB EVENT ...
Local players who need more competition after this weekend's Hampshire Open should note that Woolston Trades Labour Club have a competition with £300 to the winner on Saturday 14th July. Entry is £5.

1 June 2007 - Roy Brown teams up with Christoph Schweizer to reach the semi-finals of the warm up event at Lausen. Paul Gibbs and Bas Otterloo make the quarter finals. The Singles events take place on Saturday and the Doubles events on Sunday.
