- Hampshire lead by 10-8 overnight against Yorkshire at Castleford, largely due to a great 5-1 win
from the Ladies B. The Mens B Team are defeated by 7-5. Stephanie
Smee and Troy Butler are the best winners. |

- James Wade is in good form at the Asterdale, Derby as he qualifies
for yet another UK Open second day. He has good wins over Gary
Noonan, Mark Dudbridge, Ronnie Baxter and Peter Manley to prgress.
Colin Monk makes the last 64 losing to
Wayne Atwood but all the other Hampshire hopefuls fail to make the
money rounds.
Arron Monk makes his pro tour debut
but goes down to the very experienced Mick Savvery. |

- Some good showings by Hampshire players at the Welsh Masters at
Rhyl. Paul Gibbs and Paul
Hogan both reached the last 16 of the Men's Singles going out to
Brian Woods and Mike Veitch. Wendy Reinstadtler reached the Ladies
Singles semi-final losing to eventual winner Sue Biddle and Angela
Hogan the last 32 going down to Michelle Shepherd.
The in-form Scott Waites took the
Men's Singles title. |

- James Wade reaches the last eight of this new event at Bad Soden
near Frankfurt. Colin Lloyd ends his hopes of further progress.
Andy Jenkins makes the last 32
before losing to Wes Newton but there are early defeats for Ian
Eames, Ian Critchett and Colin Monk.
This result ensures James will
remain in the top 12 players in the PDC rankings and therefore
playing at the Topic International Darts League in the Netherlands
next month. |

Former A Team player
Joe Holmes has unearthed this picture of the Hampshire Men's A Team
that beat the West of England 7-5 at Fareham WMC on 8 May 1978. The
individual scores from the match are below. Len Benham and Joe
Holmes both hit 180s that afternoon. The West of England team
included the then World Champion, the late, great Leighton Rees.

- James Wade is in devastating form at Manchester as he banks the
£5000 top prize.
First he overcomes World number 1
Phil Taylor 5-2 with an average of 111 a throw and then takes out an
in-form Colin Osborne by two sets to one.
His opponent in the final, Terry
Jenkins can only win one leg as he races to a straight sets victory
that puts him third in the UK Open table, but most importantly up to
tenth in the PDC Order of Merit. |

- Unicorn Maestro James Wade qualifies for yet another quarter final
in a UK Open regional heat at the Sale Hotel.
Colin Monk makes the last 32, losing
out to Dave Jowett.
Bob Crawley and Ian Eames are both
edged out in the second round.
Former World Youth Master Aaron
Turner defeats another former winner Sean Dowling in his opening
match but is edged out 5-4 in the second round by Darren Johnson who
misses double twelve for a 9 dart leg.
Andy Jenkins and Jason Crawley are
both eliminated in their opening matches. |

- Unicorn Andover Youth Academy's seventeen year old start Jamie Kelling made his PDC Pro Tour debut
today in the Blue Square UK Open Regional Heat
being held in the Manchester area.
He has already joined Team Unicorn as
a member of Generation 180, specifically set up for younger players.
The Andover teenager has already
won the Youth Invitation Singles in his home town and played
steadily in his first round defeat to Brian Whybrow.
His next event will be the Blue
Square UK Open Midlands regional heat in two weeks |

- Hampshire's travelling trio all reach the last 32 and
lose to Finns in Tampere. Roy Brown is beaten 4-1 by Matti Hatinen,
Paul Hogan loses 4-2 to Petri Lindroos and Paul Gibbs is edged 4-3
by Uki Takkinen. Dietmar Burger from Austria beats Finn Sami Sanssi
in the final. |

- With 40 of the top 50 WDF ranked players missing, Paul
Gibbs and Paul Hogan both have an excellent chance of success in the
Finnish Open in Tampere this weekend.
Gibbs is seeded 10th and Hogan 11th
and both will be eager to pick up valuable points towards a return
to the Lakeside in 2008. England International Roy Brown is also at
the event and will hope to add to the WDF points he has already
earned in Scotland and Malta.
Only three of the top 16 are making
the trip, Darryl Fitton, Tony O'Shea and Shaun Greatbatch. |

Hampshire Darts Organisation are
promoting a couple of great events in the coming months.
First there is the Mill Rythe
Spring Festival taking place between Friday 11 May and Sunday 13 May
2007. This holiday centre is on Hayling Island and boasts over
£7,000 in prizes. Unusually, the Men's and Ladies events have equal
prize funds.
Saturday 2 June 2007 at the
Southampton Novotel will see another staging of one the biggest one
day Opens in the country. Upwards of 400 players usually start the
day chasing the top prize of £1,000 from a fund of over £2,000.

- Hampshire's Ladies A draw 3-3 with Essex but an 8-4
Men's A win give Hampshire victory by 20 to 16. Kev Ede has a
spectacular winning average of almost 105 as he wins the Men's
Player of the Match Award and the £200 prize for the best county
match of the weekend nationwide.
Wendy Reinstadtler also impresses
with a winning average close to 80 but world champion Trina
Gulliver's 85 takes the Ladies £100 prize.
The next fixture sees the table
topping clash between Yorkshire and Hampshire's Men's A teams, both
boast an unbeaten record this season. |

- Both JAMES WADE and ANDY JENKINS made the last 32 of
the latest Pro Tour event losing to Phil Taylor and Wayne Mardle
respectively at South Ruislip.
Young Rikki Williams had an
excellent day beating a top Dutch teenage talent in Toon Greebe and
twice former world championship finalist Ronnie Baxter to reach the
last 64 before losing to Andy Jenkins. Colin Monk also made the last
64 but was edged out by former world number three Colin Lloyd.
Mervyn King has qualified for
tomorrow's quarter finals on his PDC Pro Tour debut together with
Terry Jenkins, Phil Taylor, Wayne Mardle, Vincent van der Voort,
Dennis Priestley, Colin Lloyd and Steve Beaton. |
