3 May 2005
- The UK's biggest and best County Open is taking place
on Saturday 7th May at the Southampton Novotel. Over 420 hopefuls
will start the afternoon and a £2000 prize fund is on offer with the
eventual champion taking £1000.
Twelve of the top 36 players in the
latest issue of the World Rankings are taking part.
Twice former World Champion John
Part, Kevin Painter, Andy Jenkins, Dennis Smith, Mark Walsh, Lionel
Sams, Mick Manning, Peter Evison, Simon Whatley, James Wade, Mark
Thomson and 2003 winner Colin Monk are no strangers to television
viewers and are all regulars on the pro tour circuit.
1997 World Champion and
title-holder Les Wallace and 2002 winner Paul Hogan are another pair
who have also featured widely in big time TV darts and the 2000
winner Paul Carter last weekend won the English National title.
Add some of the best county players
around to this melting pot and there is sure to be some explosive
action during the gruelling day.
