WINMAU WORLD
MASTERS ... |
|
28 September 2004 -
Four Hampshire players will be at
Bridlington for the World Masters in October. Paul Hogan appears to
have the best chance being drawn on Co Stompé's board but former
World Champion Les Wallace has a tough group headed by top seeded
Raymond van Barneveld.
Hampshire's two representatives in the Boys event have tough
opposition. John Andrews opens against 12 year old Swede Oskar
Lukusiak who hit a nine dart 501 in the Danish Open Boys Singles.
Shane Clifft starts his campaign against a Gibraltarian but could
then meet Mark Venema of the Netherlands who recently made the
semi-finals of the Open Emmen.
Unfortunately there are no
Hampshire players in either the Ladies or Girls events. The full
draws are at www.dartswdf.com

BUDWEISER UK OPEN ... |
|
26 September 2004 -
Bob Crawley has an excellent day at
Newport reaching the last 16 of the Welsh heat of the Budweiser UK
Open. He already looks set for a third consecutive visit to the
televised £124,000 Grand Finals at the Reebok Stadium next June but
will be keen to cement a place in the top 32 to avoid the opening
two rounds and guarantee a payday.
His remarkable run came to an end
at the hands of eleven time world champion Phil Taylor who was in
quite mercurial form as he homed in on the title winning five legs
in 64 darts. Bob had himself
eclipsed the twice world finalist Peter Manley in the previous round
by the same scoreline hardly letting "One Dart" the chance to
demonstrate how he got his nickname. He had also removed twice former World champion Dennis
Priestley earlier in the day in a blistering match.
Andy Jenkins and Colin Monk both
reached the last 32 where eventual finalist Tommy Wilson and Andy
Smith snatched late wins respectively.
James Wade had tested Taylor in the
last 64 and held him at 3-3 before "The Power" ran out a 5-3 winner. |

Colin fared a little better by
reaching the last sixteen and again was edged out 4-5 in a high
standard match by Darren "The Sniper" Webster.
Andy Jenkins will be the only
Hampshire player in the finals at the fabulous City West Hotel in
Saggart, near Dublin next month. The draw for the event will be made
