SKYBET WORLD GRAND
PRIX DRAW
... |
|
28 September 2005 -
Andy Jenkins faces Bob Anderson in the opening round of the Skybet
World Grand Prix in Dublin later in the month. The winner will face
Phil Taylor or Joe Collins in the second round.
James Wade's reward for qualifying is a match with Irish qualifier
Keith Rooney. The winner will have a stern test in round two when
they take on either Roland Scholten or Dennis Priestley.
James is scheduled to be the last
match of the evening of Monday 24th October while Andy will be the
first match on the evening of Tuesday 25th October.
The winner will collect £20,000 but
there is also the tantalising carrot of £150,000 should any player
achieve what has never been managed on TV before and hit a perfect
nine dart leg starting with a double. |

WELSH HEAT
... |
|
25 September 2005 -
Colin Monk had a marvellous run at Newport to the semi finals before running
into Phil Taylor but now looks a racing certainty to be part of the
finals at Bolton for the fourth consecutive time next June as a
result of the £1,000 he banked.
Ian Eames had a win against World
number 23 Jamie Harvey but then ran into an in-form Kevin Pearson
who also accounted for James Wade and Chris Mason before going down
to eventual winner Mark Walsh who had also eliminated Andy Jenkins
in the last 64. |

Paul Gibbs wins a place in the
International play-off in Bridlington next month. Paul Hogan is
assured of a place there as well unless he remains in the placings
for automatic invitations. Unfortunately he is not in control of his
own destiny as the final event is the World Cup Singles this
weekend, an event where many of the top rated players are unable to
take part for no other reason than their nationality. |

PDPA PLAYERS
CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
... |
|
24 September 2005 -
James Wade and Andy Jenkins
both reach the last eight at Newport and both agonisingly lose out in the final
leg of the match. Andy goes down to eventual finalist Colin Lloyd
while James Wade is edged in a thriller by the Dutch Master Roland
Scholten. Roland hit a nine dart leg in the match and also had two
earlier close attempts at it, one ending on the eighth
dart and one missing the double eighteen.
Even so Roland survived an attempt at
a 124 finish that James narrowly missed to progress. Roland earned a
PDPA bonus of £2,400 for his 9 dart leg while James and Andy had the
consolation of £600 apiece for their last eight spots. Colin Monk
picked up £75 for a last 64 place losing to Ronnie Baxter and Phil
Taylor took the top prize of £5,000. |
