CHOICEBET FRATTON PARK DARTS

This takes place in the Mandaric
Suite, Portsmouth FC on
the evening of Friday 6th October starring Portsmouth's Andy
Jenkins who has recently risen as high as 6 in the world rankings,
former World Champion Andy Fordham, twice World Championship
runner-up Peter Manley and the fast emerging James Wade who reached
last month's World Matchplay final and looks set to join Jenkins and
Manley in the top ten very soon.
The event is sponsored by North End
Bookmakers ChoiceBET and a £3000 prize is up for grabs to the winner
of the professional challenge. Each of the four players will play
each other over 6 legs and the top two will contest the 9 leg winner
takes all final.
The start of the evening features a
pro-am format involving members of the audience.
With that line up a fantastic
evening's entertainment is guaranteed and the familiar voice of Phil
Jones will be hosting the evening.

James Wade again runs into Phil Taylor as he halts his progress in
the first of 8 regional UK Open heats at Newport. Taylor goes on to
beat Adrian Lewis in the final.
Colin Monk, Jason Crawley and Andy
Jenkins each make the last 64 losing to Alan Warriner-Little, Matt
Chapman and John Kuczynski respectively. |

Hampshire are unable to retrieve the overnight deficit as the Ladies
A Team are beaten 6-0 by Cambridgeshire. The Men's A draw 6-6 with
Mick Cookman and Roy Brown both averaging around 90 a throw but the
final score is 22-14 to the visitors. |

Unfortunately he is unable to topple Phil Taylor and must settle for
the £2,500 second prize.

Hampshire trail 10-8 overnight in their home match with
Cambridgeshire. The Ladies B draw 3-3 with Nikki Stevens the lady of
the match on her debut. The
Mens B Team lose 5-7 but Danny Smith also takes the best performance
award on his debut. |

At the PDPA play-off in Newport Colin Monk and Bob Crawley were both
just two wins short of a place in the finals at Dublin. Bob was
beaten by Andy Callaby and Colin went down to Colin Osborne.
The draw for the finals was made
immediately after the play-off and James Wade faces Paul Watton and
Andy Jenkins takes on Terry Jenkins. |

points towards a place in the 2007 Holsten Premier League Darts. He
is defeated by US based Canadian Gary Mawson. Ray Carver beats Darin

Phil Taylor is in unstoppable form as he beats Martin Adams 7-2 to
win the World Darts Trophy in Utrecht. During the event he only
dropped four sets. Bobby
George beat Les Wallace making a welcome comeback to televised darts
by 2 legs to 1 in an exhibition match before the final. Don't read
too much into the score as the emphasis was very much on 'fun' since
the scores called didn't always match those hit; the caller's
eyesight would put some Premiership football referees to shame! |

Continuing the long tradition of overseas success by Hampshire
players Mick Cookman has won the Catalan Open recently beating Tony
Martinez in the final. He also teamed up with Nillson Pritchard to
take the Mens Pairs with a win over Jimmy Jukes and Trevor Ellacott
at Calella, Barcelona. |

Phil Taylor averages close to 108 in a masterful performance against
Ronnie Baxter and runs out a 6-0 winner. Ron Meulenkamp wins the
junior title with a 6-1 win over fellow Dutch teenager Sven van Dun.
Martin Adams beats Michael van Gerwen
6-4 but despite defeat Michael hits the fourth 170 finish of the
event and comes close to the nine darter missing double 12 in the
match.
Adams now faces Phil Taylor in
tomorrow's final. |

Martin Adams eases into the last four beating Niels de Ruiter by
5-0.
Ronnie Baxter beats Mike Veitch by
5-3 and Ron Meulenkamp beats Jan Dekker 5-0 to reach the junior
final.
Tomorrow sees Phil Taylor take on
Ronnie Baxter and Michael van Gerwen face Martin Adams in the
semi-finals. The junior final will be contested by two young
Dutchmen, Sven van Dun and Ron Meulenkamp.
Sunday's final will be preceded by
a special exhibition match between former World Champion and World
Master Les Wallace and twice News of the World winner Bobby George.
Les is a former Hampshire
favourite, who made 119 appearances for the county, winning 78
between 1982 and 2000. He also represented Scotland 25 times.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery go to Robert Heard who was injured
with his wife in a car crash on Wednesday. Both had just returned
from holiday when they were involved in an accident near Gatwick
Airport.Robert (pictured
left), originally from Wales now lives in Hilsea, Portsmouth and
represented Hampshire six times in 2002/2003. He is also a regular
on the PDC tour and has twice reached the UK Open finals, first in
2003 and again in 2005. |

Michael van Gerwen again thrills the home crowd as he comes from
behind to end Mervyn King's chances by 5-4.
Phil Taylor wins 5-1 against Colin
Lloyd in a closer match than the scoreline suggests and Sven van Dun
beats Richard George 5-2 in the junior semi-final and keep alive his
hope of winning both this and the IDL title. |

Martin Adams has a narrow win over Tony O'Shea by 4-3. Niels de
Ruiter wins the all Dutch clash with Vincent van der Voort 4-2.
Niels hits the third 170 finish of the event on his way to winning.
Mervyn King beats Darryl Fitton 4-1. Ronnie Baxter beats Martin
Atkins by 4-0. The quarter
final line up is Lloyd v Taylor, Baxter v Veitch, Adams v de Ruiter
and van Gerwen v King. |

Phil Taylor is too powerful for John Walton and wins 4-1. Michael
van Gerwen has another impressive display and survives four
match-points against top Aussie Simon Whitlock before squeezing
through by 4-3. Colin Lloyd won the battle of the respective "No 1"
ranked players by 4-2. Colin misses a double 12 for a nine darter in
the match and takes out a 170 finish on his way to winning. Mike
Veitch beats Tony Eccles 4-1. |

will be in action at The Mandaric Suite, Portsmouth FC, Fratton
Park, Portsmouth in a month's time.
Portsmouth's own Andy Jenkins is
joined by Peter Manley, James Wade and Andy Fordham who will all be
in action in an evening of round robin, pairs head-to-head and
pro-am challenges. Phil Jones will host proceedings.
The date is October 6th, doors open
7 p.m. for an 8 p.m. start. |

Seventeen year old Michael van Gerwen is in stunning form to win 3-2
against Raymond van Barneveld. Aussie Simon Whitlock overcomes a
shaky start to beat holder Gary Robson 3-1. Darryl Fitton is barely
troubled by Co Stompé as he dismisses the Dutchman's challenge by
3-0. Mervyn King edges out Tony Martin in a close match to end the
evening and finishes 170 during the game. |

Lakeside Champion Jelle Klaasen does not perform to the same

Dutch teenager Ron Meulenkamp is
impressive in victory against Swede Oskar Lukasiak in the junior
event.
The promoters of the event expel
Ted Hankey from the remainder of the event for his unprofessional
conduct on the oche during his Saturday defeat. |

de Vechtsebanen in Utrecht. John Walton takes advantage of a

Martin Atkins has little trouble disposing of Paul Hanvidge.

Paul Hogan opens his campaign in Utrecht this evening against Ronnie
Baxter. Former World Champion and World Master Les Wallace is also
in action at the event; before next Sunday's final he is contracted

intent averaging over 104 as he destroys the Danish challenger Brian
Sørensen 3-0. Gary Anderson beats a disappointing and bad tempered
Ted Hankey 3-0. Colin Lloyd beats Peter Manley 3-1 in a high quality
match that could have been much closer had Manley been sharper on
his doubles.
