Captain Antonis Dakoronia established a Maritime Museum in 1951 . Destroyed in 1956 in the earthquake, it was reopened in 1979 and is still thriving. There is also a cultural centre, and several art galleries.
We were warned that it would be expensive to eat in Oia but we still found a friendly little restaurant with spectacular views and had a one course meal and drinks for less than £7 each.
