DARK OCEAN STUDIOS - "EARTHSONS" AND "THE DARK LABYRINTH"

Something a little different for me.  I've recently been editing two comics from Dark Ocean Studios, "Earthsons" and "The Dark Labyrinth."  Both comics are written by Jody Parker, and are set on dark, hopeless worlds, but they're very different, both in theme and style.

"EARTHSONS" is set in a post-apocalyptic world of the future, where those whose ancestors had their genes spliced with animals survive better than true humans, and where the only way to survive is by treating your food and water, even your air, with a mysterious chemical known only as "Blue".  The manufacture and distribution of Blue is strictly controlled, but no one knows by what agency.

Aleyen, a human and petty thief, is approached by Leeyal, a Katawa with mixed human and feline genes.  She has a mission for him, that will take him beyond the End of the World, and may uncover the mystery of Blue.  If he survives that long...

"THE DARK LABYRINTH" takes place on a planet that has been torn into two hemispheres, Lotherial and Oren, following an ancient war.  The two hemispheres are in constant conflict, which has led to the development of Ions, giant robots that can bridge the airless gap between the hemispheres and take the war to outer space.

On the hemisphere of Oren, Kel, a respected pilot, is one of the first to try out a prototype Ion known as the Dark Labyrinth.  He is telepathically linked to the machine, allowing him to control it with his thoughts.  But contact with the Ion affects his mind, causing him forgetfulness and vivid dreams of the past.  The government are unwilling to help, so Kel launches his own investigation, risking everything to find the truth.

PLAYRIX GAMES

Dark Ocean, in the form of Jody and I, have also been involved in editing in-game text for Playrix Games, a company that produces downloadable puzzle games for PC's.  Check out some of our work in the free download available from :

http://www.playrix.com/4-elements.html

Although I warn you, 4 Elements is Tetris-like in its addictiveness!

We edited the playing cards you win at the end of every level.  The artwork for this game is really stunning, too.

We also provided text edits and plot input on "Call to Atlantis," the sequel to Playrix's popular "Rise of Atlantis," which was released in November.  Although some classics scholars have questioned the historical accuracy, it's a fun puzzle-solving game, which can be found here :

And, in a moment of "Stop the Presses!"  while I was in the process of updating, "Fishdom H2O - Hidden Odyssey" has been released by Playrix Games.  It's a hidden object game where you play Jennifer, a young marime biologist entusted with building up her own aquarium.  It can be downloaded from here :

Have fun!
