Malin Head Radio Generations of marine radio officers know this historic station. See photos of the R/O's, several of whom are our members. Hear EJM's last CW transmission.
Bob Dixon's Maritime Radio Pages This site has been created by an ex-marine radio surveyor. It has numerous interesting links. Some of the pages have a morse content and the Titanic section will be of interest to ex-seagoing members, as there are extracts from the Titanic radio log as well as an interview with its 2nd R/O. Interestingly, there's a link to the Association of Marine Electronic & Radio Colleges, an organisation which was set up from Hardcastle St. in the early 1960's with old Rolly being its Hon. Secretary for the first 7 years or so..
Radio Officers' Amateur Radio Society R.O.A.R.S. Radio Officers' Amateur Radio Society; the amateur radio section of The Radio Officers' Association. Quoting from the homepage which was updated in March 1999:

One of the largest ever radio related international special events takes place in April 1999. It will be two integrated events. To mark the impending closure of Portishead Radio , at one time the largest communications centre in the world. Plus, on April 10th and 11th to mark the work and contribution to safety of life at sea by the worlds Coast Stations.

A lot of nostalgic names and places from the old Commonwealth Area Scheme for our seagoing members such as Awarua and Irirangi
. Stations closer to home Anglesey, Cullercoats, Ilfacombe, Portpatrick, Scheveningen, Nordeich, Lyngby and many more took part in this event. We visited the site in August '99, it had not been updated, but hopefully a repeat event may be planned.
