Originally formed in
1980 the North West Mountain Rescue Team today has 32 active members.
The North West team covers Co.Fermanagh and the Sperrin Mountains from Coleraine in the north east to Omagh in the south west. The team also provides backup cover in the Donegal mountains and assists in any incident reported on the Antrim plateau. The team is based in Derry City where it has a rescue station. In recent years there has been an increasing interest from young people and the team has an active training program and a Youth Development Policy.
