Highfield House built around 1875 is an elegant stone built Victorian residence set amidst well stocked and spacious gardens close to all local amenities in the village of Stoney Stanton Leicestershire.
Shadrach Norton who built the house perhaps for his own residence has been variously described as a brick manufacturer, quarry owner, landowner, overseer, churchwarden, architect and builder. He was eventually declared bankrupt around 1885 - 1887 and committed suicide in 1891. The house now tastefully modernised is recognised as being a local landmark and over the years has been occupied by many notable village personalities.
In 1987 the house was converted by the present owners into a residential care home for the elderly. Due to changing market conditions in 2011 the house was restored back to a domestic dwelling.
