Book Purchase Details
I travel widely giving lectures on these early 18th
century engines and if any club or organisation would like details I can
be contacted via e-mail on david.hulse1@btinternet.com
Also I have written two books based upon the research which I have done
over the past 26 years into the engines and, they have been
published by TEE
Publishing
The first book is called "The Early Development of the Steam
Engine," and chronicles the development of the steam engine from
100AD until 1779. This book is the only account which has ever been
written covering how the world's first engine designed by Thomas Newcomen
actually operated in 1712.
The second book called "The Development of Rotary Motion by Steam
Power", follows on and starts in 1779 describing the first engine to
achieve rotary motion by the use of a crank and flywheel. This was
patented on the 23rd
August 1780. Also described in this book is the Boulton and Watt Lap
Engine of 1788, the first engine to have its rotational speed controlled
by a mechanical governor.
Signed copies of these books can be obtained by writing to;
